52  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / NEED HELP: My cozy Pod Creature is Being a MONSTER!! on: May 02, 2006 01:01:43 PM
Fellow hookers,
As soon as I got this book, I knew that I wanted to make the Cozy Pod Creature because I hated undressing Frenchie (my iPod) to use her.  Completely degrading.  Soo...as my mother was unable to take me out for vinyl, I made a couple in bloom bags, the corset belt, and the 1 skein scarf.  After much nagging, I now have my vinyl.  So I rushed through my homework last night (writing down random letters and numbers for math, etc.) so that I could start the project before 24 started (that show requires my full attention).  I wiz through the vinyl prep and the first 2 rows, then it hits me.  I totally do not understand where to put my hook in Row 3 which reads:

Sc in first 21 sc, ending with sc in bottom left-hand corner sc, turn, leaving rem sts unworked--21sts.

what, may i ask, are the first 21 sc.  the first ones i made ever?  the ones i just did?  the next 21 that i would have done if i hadn't recieved this awkward instrution?  also, i am starting on the top left corner, so if i just keep going normally for 21 sc, i will definitley not make it to the bottom-left corner.

HELP!!!! I can post pics if needed!

I just want some dignity for my iPod!  Is that too much to ask???

53  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Hmmmm......Crochet Sundress? on: March 23, 2006 04:59:52 PM
I was looking for a cute sundress at the mall today and couldn't find one.  When I came home I went to craftster (duh) and then it hit me...CROCHET A SUNDRESS!  I am not sure where to start, and none of my searches came up with any patterns.  I am fairly new to crochet, so I am wary about writing my own pattern.  Anyone have any ideas or comments?

Thanks!  Dominique

2)  Ipod Cozy-My latest variation.  I love the contrast of hardcore technology with cozy crafts!  This one has to cables going across the front horizontally and garter stitch everywhere else.  Just your average rectangle sewed together. another stashbuters

5)  this is supposed to be the soft-as-a-bunny makeup case from Hollywood Knits (i know, i know).  I used fun fur.  I actually sewed a zipper on, which was pretty much the biggest sewing thing i have ever done.  unfortuanately, i did not forsee the issues of the not-so-fun-anymore fur getting stuck in the zipper.  I gave it a little trim (ha), but i still wish that it was a bit less, well, furry.  nevertheless, when i take it to camp with me, everyone wants to pet it, and i know that i will definitely not lose it and no one will steal it.

dadadadaaaaaa!

zipper that i am oh so proud of!

6)  Here is an adorable scarf and slipper set thatI made for my five-year-old sister, GiGi. The scarf was inspired by Last Minute Gift's Childrens Rainbow Scarf. The slippers are based loosely on the MARYJane Slipper pattern that I found on Craftster.  For the scarf, I casted on 8 stitches and worked in a k2 p2 rib. It works up fast; I knit two in a day. I also added fringe on the end because I thought it would be cute.  Both are made with cheapo acrylic yarn I picked up at AC Moore.

7)  Yo!  Drop it!  Scarf from SnBNation It took me ages (okay, a couple of days) to figure out the drop stitch.  The ribbon yarn is really nicely showcased by the drop stitch.  Well, here it is:

my mom stole it and made it her new favorite scarf

the color looks soooo much better in person, like an olivey green with golded tones.

please enjoy and comment!  positive and negative comments welcome!
