1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Valentine's Day Themed Tom Servos! on: February 02, 2011 11:55:31 AM
I decided to make a Valentine themed Tom Servo to sell at my shop for Valentine's Day, check it out!

They come in pink and red, or red and pink. And instead of a clear glass bead for his head I made it out of a pink glass bead. I think they look really awesome!

Here's a close up of each color:

Nothing says love like some geeky tv show robot from the 90s, eh? Wink
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Random TV/Movie Pendants (img heavy) on: January 02, 2011 12:14:05 PM
I made a ton of awesome geeky clay I wanted to share. I love them all, check 'em out! Smiley

Tom Servo from Mystery Science Theater 3000. He's my favorite on the show. I used a glass bead for his head, I think it turned out great!

My favorite prank from the tv show The Office is when Jim puts Dwight's stapler in Jello. Too funny. I made a pendant with a clay stapler and set it in resin.

A minion from the movie Despicable Me! He's too cute.

The wreath from Nightmare Before Christmas. He's mean, but still awesome.

The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. He's cute now, just wait until you make him mad. Wink
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / marbles? on: December 16, 2010 04:07:58 PM
This might be a silly question, but...

I want to make a clay figure and combine marbles into the piece. My question is, can I cook marbles in the oven with the clay?

I'm worried the marbles will shatter, crack, or mess up the clay during baking.

Thanks!

EDIT:

Got the answer, and put this in the wrong category! Oops! thanks anyway guys Smiley
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / x-files swap? on: June 18, 2008 11:40:29 AM

5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / mosaic grout problem on: June 17, 2008 10:01:21 PM
I recently made a mosaic and I glued/grouted/etc.  Problem is the grout is way too light, it's gray and needs to be almost black.
Is their a way to fix it even though it's already dried?  If I attempted to paint it would it stick, would it look ridiculous?
I love the mosaic and spent almost a whole month on it, it's just the grout makes it look yuck.
Thanks.
6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / indiana jones on: December 13, 2007 12:00:12 PM
indiana and his dad in the last crusade.
this was my favorite scene, and my favorite thing i've done with clay so far.  did anyone else notice in the movie indy's hands are bound in the front and his dad's are bound behind him?

sean connery's glasses were made out of bead wire

i even made indy all scruffy

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / advent & cookies & riddles oh my on: May 17, 2007 09:22:16 AM
i used two great ideas for me and my boyfriends anniversary and put them together to make it my own.

first, i saw burstandbloom's xmas advent calendar and thought "hey, i could make one, but counting down to our anniversary."  so here it is, an anniversary advent:
i decided to make them squares instead of circles, and because i'm lazy i painted the insides red instead of putting paper strips in it.  check out 14 it's batman!   Cheesy

this is the last door, 17.  it's my favorite:

in the inside of the advent instead of little gifts i put in riddles.  each one is a riddle that if he guesses he gets that present for that day.  here's an example:
i come in fall colors.
in a box or a bag.
i melt when i'm hot,
two words that rhyme are my name.
what am i?
the answer is reese's pieces.  they are is favorite candy.  Smiley

and then i saw patty_o_furniture's awesome cookies.  me and my boyfriend have this inside joke and i thought these cookies would be perfect.  though, he doesn't like sugar cookies so i had to improvise with chocolate chip.  it was pretty tough but i think it turned out pretty good:
the bottom left one is mine, it's boy briefs heh.

technically he can't start the advent until june 1st, but the cookies are for today.  along with a polymer clay figure of michael douglas in falling down (his favorite movie), a mix cd of 80's cheeseball love songs, a zelda ipod cover, and a french toast casserole (french toast is his favorite food).  mmmm.

so thanks burstandbloom and patty_o_furniture!  Smiley
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / anniversary with difficult bf on: April 09, 2007 11:13:06 AM
my bf and i are celebrating our anniversary (a first for me really), and he loves when i make him crafty stuff for presents.
but he says he doesn't want a journal, anything knitted, any sculptures, pretty much anything i know how to do.
he did say he wanted a guitar strap, but where do i even start?  and he says he wants no designs on it just earthy colors.
i thought girls were the picky ones?
anyway, i need help thinking of something to make the pickiest bf ever.  i was thinking of painting him something..but what?
need help.  stat.  our anniversary is in 2 weeks.
thanks guys.
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / need help, twinkie plushie on: February 10, 2007 03:33:06 PM
my bf always says we are "twinkies," which if you can explain to me what it means...anyway moving on...
i want to make him a twinkie plush, but i can't think of a way to fill it to where it will stay flat on the bottom without putting cardboard or something along those lines at the bottom.  i know it would be the easiest to do that, but i kind of want it to be like a pillow.
any advice i could get on executing it would be a huge help, thanks!
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / appreciation for dr. and nurses on: December 08, 2006 09:14:08 PM
I want to show my appreciation to my oncologist and the nurses that work for him by making them something for helping me through all the rough tough stuff.  I got them mugs and I was thinking I could fill them with small things but I can't think of anything to fill with.  Any ideas?
Thanks!
