I received from NiinaMaria yesterday. I hope the postman appreciated the lovely Marimekko box it came in:) I certainly did.

Local things- fabulous Marimekko fabric - I love poppies. Though I m a knitter rather than a sewer I love nice fabric. I have a plan for this fabric:) You can also see the cool box everything came in and a Marimekko bag. Also there was a DVD of the Northern Lights:) and a reindeer leather bookmark with my name on it. I love bookmarks and this one is so soft. The last two things represent Lapland where she is from. I have a fascination with the Arctic - so am lookinf orward to seeing the Northern Lights DVD.

Her favourites - her favourite magazine( had fun looking at the photos and trying to work out what the articles were about), Marimekko napkins(adorable pattern) and yummy chocolate biscuits - her favourite treat. You can see even more of he lovely fabric here.

We are both sending the photos/artwork part of the swap separately.

I recieved from Timpani~Jax last week.

I got a cute bag based of one from my wist. It is lovely silky fabric. The blue is a little washed out here  -

I also got these amazing Christmas decorations - aren't they clever - again in great shades of red and blue. They are like mini-embroidery hoops.

I love red and blue, especially these shades of blue.

And a cute pair of earrings using vintage beads - sorry for the bad photo.

Thank you Timpani~Jax - I enjoyed swapping with you again:) Sorry for the delay in posting photos - I have been made busy-trying to get the house ready for visitors and I had a doctor appointment yesterday I was dreading!

This is what I got from Sally:)

We share a love of Asian fabrics and kimonos and have read the  same books. We didn't plan it but we both crafted around those themes, lol. She made me a wonderful bag - her first quilting project! It's so well made. Look at the fabrics - looking at them makes me happy. It has been in use since I got it. Because Little Woman is my favourite book she stitched it into the side:) She also made a beautiful journal! She bound it herself - another first - using more wonderful Asian fabric.

Shot of the inside of the bag - more wonderful fabric. Yay - pockets. The grey thing at the bottom is my hat btw.

I love both of these because I'd love try book-making. And I admir anyone who can sew like this. I have been meaning to try patchwork/quilting for ages but have been chicken. My machine sewing skills are minimal. I was going to make a quilt for my husband's new cousin - she is getting a sweater instead;)

Extras!

A very sweet Little Woman book with illustrations which made me happy; Vegemite - much nicer than Marmite, I am converted; chocolate -  I might have mentioned somewhere along the way that I see chocolate as an essential part of the reading experience:)-honesty compells me to admit that there was twice this amount of chocolate; Sharpies- I have an addiction and you can't get them here!!! Not pictured are 2 double-ended Sharpies - they have been in my pencil case since they came.

And ----- books!

Evening is the Whole Day
by Preeta Samarasan - I added this to my Want to Read list on Facebook after Sally mentioned it here and she saw it there and got it for me.
See Naples and Die by Penelope Green - I am reading this now and enjoying it. I love Italy and have been there twice.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - I have never  read anything by him - will be interesting to see how I like it.

You can also see the lovely bookmark made from vintage fabrics Sally made me. I am thinking of displaying it - I have some vintage silk kimono fabric it would go well with. She also made a lovely beaded bookmark that is hiding - I hope one of the cats didn't take it - he thought it was a superior cat toy. He also enjoyed making a nest of the paper everything was wrapped in:)

I really enjoyed this swap - I'll miss the book chat in the thread. I had a great partner and Antarctic is a great organiser.

16  Re: Choc Unan Rd 3 Gallery of Chocolatey Goodness! in The Swap Gallery by Saor on: October 25, 2008 09:25:01 AM
I received yesterday - a lovely surprise since Slingmomma only sent a few days ago. When the postman knocked I thought it was going to be a geology book I had ordered - no it was chocolate:)Smiley and crafted goodies - I was spoiled  - I made some suggestions as to what Slingmomma could make for me and I do believe she made them all!

Wonderful bag. I love bags. And this fabric is very me. The bag has lots of pockets inside  - which I asked for - you know the annoying person who stands in-line ahead of you and spends ages rooting in her bag for something - that's me usually. It got an airing this morning when I went to P.O. I must  get a picture with the pockets and stuff in it - the batteries needed charging yesterday when I was taking the pics. Anyway I love my bag:) Sorry for the sideways shot - yeah the bag deserves another pic.

And I get these cool earrings too. Have only taken them off to go to bed and take photos of them. The beads in front are another extra she added in. I love the colours of the earrings - they are all different but go together -very me - and the earrings will go with any colour top.

My new pencil case and journal. I asked for a pencil case.I recently started doing a Gemmology course and needed a case for my drawing pencils and pens. See how roomy it is. And a matching journal. I love journals and notebooks - I work form home and use a notebook everyday. And I can reuse the cover too which I am happy with. I love the fabrics too  - I am very into red at the moment. This red is the same colour as my dining room wall.

But I know you guys want to see the chocolate as well Wink
I got a sack of Hersey's kisses (which I asked for cos we don't have them here and she went to some effort to track down) ; some Ghiardelli (caramel and mint - the caramel is gone -yum) I asked for the Ghiardelli ,I think, because we don't have it here either;dark Cadbury's Flake (didn't make to the pic - it gladly sacrificed itself) I love Flakes and the dark ones are yummy - only had one once before; Cadbury's Fudge; Laura Secord Chocolate which I am saving for a treat because it looks nice; the greatest chocolates in the world which  Aimee's sister donated and -

the

yummiest

fudge

ever
! -

from her local market - Granpa's fudge. I swear my husband's eyes glazed over and I had to hide it from him. It 's really rich too - it's dark chocolate and mint flavoured. Sooo good - words can't describe.

Everything was really prettily wrapped and labelled - I admire that because I alweays seem to be too last-minute to do that well. I sacrified the pic of everything wrapped up in favour of chocolate porn though:)

Better late than never, right? Embarrassed

From Twizted, a private swap. Reminds me of my cats, lol.

From RondaS. Great addition to my state card collection. I love the map cards.

From Whatzudoin. I have been fascinated by the Amish for ages and another State card. Yay!

From Snarkalicious. Another state card! Beautiful scene reminds me of parts of Ireland oddly enough.

And from Urvi, my first card from India! I love sunsets. My husband was very taken with this one.

Also I got a Missouri card from just_lisa in a private swap which I didn't take a picture of yet.

Thanks TwiztedBlood for organising and thanks to my partners for the great cards:)

18  Re: Completely Random Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Saor on: August 19, 2008 01:41:13 AM
I got a wonderful parcel from Titancia over a week ago. She has been very patiently waiting for me to  post pictures. Everything was wrapped up beautifully with ribbons  and charms and has little notes giving clues attached to the parcels. I put everything on the bed and gloated for a few minutes. She put so much thought into everything she made and bought. We had lots of fun emailing each other during this swap - we have so much in common -it's amazing for a random swap.

Neither of us is a natural seamstress so I know the work that went into the two book covers that she made me. I never had bookcovers before so I didn't realise how handy they are - especially for reading in the bath. Apologies for the sideways pic. There was also  a novel "I Capture the Castle" which i have finished already.

I got lots of goodies - badges, pins that say "vote" ( I have a mild politics obsession, sour sweets and gum(in the crown royal bag), tattoos, useful magnetic lists ( I love making lists), a stamping thing, 3 lovely bookamarks(in constant use since I got them(I love reading and have a fine bookmark collection). I also got sharpies(can't get them here) and tissues with my initial and a little rose charm.

Here are the earrings - not a great picture.

I collect gem stone eggs and I got these wonderful eggs. Don't they look real? I put them in egg cups straight away:D

Titancia made me jewellery (we are both jewellery addicts. I make and sometimes sell jewellery but I love getting it in swaps, just love it.)
Here you can see the four(!) necklaces I got and the pin. Also in the photo is the pouch I got for my lip glosses/balm because I have loads but can never find one when I need one. And you can also see the password journal I got. I saw that Titancia's sister CloverGrace made one for her swap partner and I was hoping to get one too.

This is a close-up of the beautiful resin pendants. I put on my list that I love mermaids and the sea. The mermaid one has gotten a lot of wear.

This is another necklace that has gotten a lot of wear. It has my favourite colour blue in it and fits the neckline of many of my tops beautifully. You can also see the pin here too. It is so sparkly. I love dragons. I wore it to a meeting last week with a pair of the earrings and felt grand.

I got seven pairs of earrings - one for every day of the week which made me happy. She wrote a poem to explain each earring. Some of my favourites are not here - 2 pairs with roses on them - I love roses. Also not shown(they are on my bag are three cool badges she made me - a Jane Austen one (a mutual interest), a Victorian one (another mutual interest) and a number 5 one (our favourite number!).

Thanks again titancia. This was a great swap. Hope you like what I made you half as much

Thanks to my  husband for helping me with the pictures - my excuse is I have a new computer;p

I love that cat one:)

I got these one from talkclaw - I was very excited as I am trying to collect a card from each state with the nmae of the state on it and Oklahoma was hard to get.

And I got this one from Ursulaandolive. I loved Nancy Drew when I was young. (I got a Massachusetts one from her too)

I got this one from FicklePegasus - great choice again. Who doesn't love Indy? Ialso like the way it got a bit battered on it's way here.

Sorry for the delay in posting some of these. I have been very busy - my sister-in-law got married last weekend and I made the jewellery (including a head dress) for and her bridesmaid - it all went well though:)

My husband got a wonderful package from mimiw yesterday. Altogether he got 2 t-shirts, a cap, a wash bag, a melted bead bowl, and lots of sweets. There was also a beautiful green bag in it for me Smiley

He loved everything he got, especially the cap and the t-shirts. He was hoping for cool stuff but this blew him away Cheesy The altoids and the sours were also a hit.

Having problems posting pics but they will be up soon.

Thanks again for giving Ciarn a great swapping experience.

Opening the box!

He has wanted an Eve T- Shirt for a long time.

Another T-shirt!

Modeling my new bag and his hat. I love the colour and fabric of the bag.

Wash bag and sweets. A lot less of the sweets now Grin

Cool bead bowl.
