yeah, if the teasing is bad now while the media is hyping the 'trendiness' of knitting, imagine what it will be like when the backlash hits its stride. fun.

the other thing i love are long time knitters of any age who assume that you've just picked up knitting and will be stopping at any moment so just shut up ang go away already. i see quite a lot of that. just because someone freestyles, uses wire and plastic or dyes their own yarn in admittedly annoying colors doesn't mean they deserve any less respect than the next person.

i promise to never think less of a person because they haven't made a sweater or whatever.

on a positive note: i know a woman who has been knitting for seventy years. seventy! she's nice and open-minded and just as shocked by the elitism as i am.

keep on knittin'.

i just wanted to thank you again because with a minor alteration your bag has saved me $68+ shipping.  i have wanted a knitone bag for a while now. if you hadn't posted the tutorial for your bag, i prolly would have eventually broken down and bought one of theirs (which i can't afford!). thanks. :0)

I've taught guys. Girls have been interested but not willing to do it now. It's always "maybe later." Meanwhile, guys will sit right down and work on it.

I'm annoyed by the granny stereotype in two ways:

One: When people make comments in passing like, "Starting early?" or "Grandma!" I know they think it's cute but it's not.

Two: That the granny stereotype is negative. The message is that old woman is bad. It's not only ageist, it's misogynistic.

awesome. totally awesome.  Grin are you going to do a tutorial?

i buy the 80's ones off of ebay and from thrift stores all the time (they don't last very long--i should really make my own).

right now i have a blue one with tropical flowers and a tan one with dolphins. not real OPs but faux ones from the 80's.

i like yours better--better quality.

PIMP over the proctology & q-tip jokes.

I found a lovely storage container in my late grandmother's closet. It took a couple of days for me to realize that it was made of an oatmeal container and beautifully painted paper.
