1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / anyone know a pattern for a dress like this? on: January 02, 2006 06:28:35 PM

do you know a pattern for a dress that looks like this? or even, do you think a pro could just recreate it without a pattern? eh i don't know. I'm too nervous just to try at it w/out a pattern by myself. I may pay someone if that's all I can do. But yeah, anyways, it's absolutely the most amazing dress i've ever seen.  Shocked 40s inspired.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / 40s dress anyone? on: December 20, 2005 10:37:04 PM
does anyone have a not completely difficult pattern they could recommend for a 40s looking dress. I'm in the play Harvey, as in the classic, and it's, of course, set in the 40s. I need a dress for like an afternoon party (for a teenager/young adult) but the thing is even though i've been sewing for quite a while i'm not completely confident in my ability to follow patterns. i'm not even really that great at it. tutorials are so much easier. making up my own patterns are easier for that matter, but unless i find something good at goodwill pattern it is.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / too many friends....too little money! uh oh! on: December 10, 2004 05:19:08 PM
ahh help! you never realize how many close friends you have until it's time to buy them gifts and then you look in your wallet and.....uh oh .....nothin! haha i need major help....and QUICK! i was obviously a procrastinator this year..... so here it goes.....

my best friend: she is absolutely crazy! we're basically like twins......she likes basketball, swimming, and she loves God. She likes anything that's a little crazy....belts, tshirts and stuff......but thing is i'm really tight on cash and i already got her a cd so i just need something else plus something for her bday at the beginning of January

my crazy athletic friend: she loves sports, and she plays soccer and is a competitive cheerleader, yet you would NEVER picture her as the "cheerleader type" she loves God and is kind of "sporty" i guess you'd say....she also likes to read and play the guitar.....

my sweet original friend: she's got a lot of my personality. .....she loves God, and she loves being just a little different in how she dresses....she's very modest, she likes shoes purses....all that's like me so i can really relate....just don't have a wonderful budget...

my boy crazy friend: she's really girly and very "fashion-conscious" which makes me fear what i could possibly make her without her thinking it was totally "not in style" haha sad but true....she's about as opposite from me as they come....only thing in common is that she's a Christian.......she's also a competitive cheerleader .....stereotypical. ..haha

my other girly sensitive friend: she also, i'm afraid, is very style-conscious....if it's not a trend she just doesn't have it .....she doesn't have to have actual brand names but she wants them to look like it.....for instance she has a boot leg kate spade bag...and personally i don't understand it....like really.... I'D much rather have something that DIDN'T look like some whacko brand name....but she's also a competitive cheerleader and plays soccer....yea she's the stereotypical "cheerleader"....ok i'm gonna quit tellin you now that they're Christians...becaus e all of the people i'm listin are...

my bubbly friend: she's totally a bubbly person.....also a competitive cheerleader....she really likes the whole chandelier earring thing...and purses.....

my punk rock friend: she's kinda like me in that she's not into brand names....she's kinda into the punk rock thing....she loves her pyramid studded belt and stuff like that....she likes evanescence, avril lavigne, and david crouder band......

my soccer lovin friend: i think i met her playin soccer when we were little...anyways she really enjoys it and she is totally crazy and incredibly funny...she can make everyone laugh

my crazy crazy friend: she's a hard core republican (YAY! haha) and proud of it....she's really into the political scene....haha....sh e really likes purses and she's completely hilarious.....she likes the band third day, if you've ever heard of them...

my sweet athletic friend: she used to play soccer and do gymnastics and now she's a competitive cheerleader--she likes lotr but she's not a fanatic or anything....she also is really funny and likes simple plan and yellowcard and stuff...i'm stuck on this one......have no clue what to get

my crazy social friend: she's is VERY social....she's always on the phone...she really loves to shop and she plays soccer and tennis ....she also used to be my best friend so we know quite a bit about each other....she's really funny and totally crazy

i think thats all for now......HELP!!!!!  Shocked
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Lemon Juice on: May 24, 2004 12:25:05 PM
Hopefully I will soon be able to open a webshop (Lemon Juice is going to be the label name.) For one, I will be selling cigar box style purses. But before all the work of making the products and buying the website domain name and getting the site put together, I'd like to know if anyone would even be at all interested in buying something like that. I thought perhaps because I'd be able to self them for a fraction of a lot of other cigar box purses. That isn't the only thing I'll make. I'll also make cloth purses and probably some lemon themed stuff. (lemon purse, wallet, etc.) Any interest?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pop Art Bag on: May 22, 2004 07:57:00 PM
well I saw the lich. pillow and wanted to try it but had an inkjet printer and wanted a colored pic. so i came up with this!

here's the before pic of my oh-so-boring bag

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/JesusFreak3259/pop%20art%20bag/Hpim0763.jpg

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/JesusFreak3259/pop%20art%20bag/Hpim0764.jpg

first of all I started by finding a picture. I used paint to make it bigger. I wanted it just like the original pic-with the "hair" to the left side. so i used the Image-Flip-FLip Horizontal button

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/JesusFreak3259/pop%20art%20bag/Hpim0772.jpg

Then using the iron-ons for inkjet printers I bought at Michael's, I printed my design (be sure to follow instructions on back of package)

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/JesusFreak3259/pop%20art%20bag/Hpim0771.jpg

On my package, it said to fold a pillowcase in half, iron it, and then iron my material (i used an old white t-shirt) and put it on top

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/JesusFreak3259/pop%20art%20bag/Hpim0773.jpg

Make sure your iron is on max and let it heat up for 5 min.

While your are waiting, cut your ribbon as long as the bottom edge of the bag. Use fabric glue to glue is on.

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/JesusFreak3259/pop%20art%20bag/Hpim0770.jpg

Now you are ready to iron on your image. DO NOT STEAM! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT! Place your image face down on the material. Then using two hands on the iron handle use your body weight to iron the image on. Make sure your get all edges and corners as well. Iron for about three minutes then lift up from the corner.

Cut away excess material from around your picture. Use fabric glue to glue it to the middle of the bag. Then use ribbon to line the pic. My ribbon was a little too thick for my bag so I cut it in half.

And voila! A great retro pop art bag in about 10 minutes!

6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / EASY lip balm! on: May 21, 2004 06:15:47 PM
k...all you need is...
spoonful of vasoline
a flavor

put the vasoline in a glass bowl and stick in the microwave for 20 seconds (or until liquid) then add your flavor-for example if you want cinnamon, sprinkle cinnamon in the bowl with the liquid vasoline) and stir it around then pour it in a little balm container (i used old container for tiny beads-about as big around as a half dollar) and wait for it to dry...don't worry...it doesn't always come out perfect on your first try....
suggestions of things to use
lemon juice
cinnamon
bubble gum....(melt in the good ole microwave!)
honey

and goodness gracious i can't remember what else....
