31  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Interchangeable Needle Recommendations on: September 24, 2007 01:50:10 PM
although i love my denise needles, if you use size 5 a lot, i don't recommend them.  the cords are actually a bit thicker than a 5 needle, so the yarn doesn't move smoothly as mlcrays described.  i haven't had any problems with any of the larger size needles tho.

thank you so much for saying this! i am using my 5s for the first time (i've had my denises for a long time, but i never knit anything in that weight/gauge) and i thought i was losing my mind! haha. i'm glad to know i'm not the only person who has to shove the stitches around. Smiley

34  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Painted/Stamped Wooden Jewelry Frenzy on: September 13, 2007 02:02:53 PM
i love the ones where you can see wood grain! i'm curious - is that a stamp, or is it the actual wood grain on the piece itself?

36  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: goldfish in a viewing tin on: September 02, 2007 06:54:07 PM
wow, that's awesome! i love goldfish! (and the crackers too, haha)

i am trying to get into poly clay, but i get discouraged easily because i'm not very skilled at it yet. it's awfully rough when you have great visions in your head that you can't produce in reality!

38  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: ~UPDATE!~ Jamie Hyneman *very IMG heavy!* on: August 30, 2007 02:25:43 PM
do you have any jewelry wire or a wire coat hanger?
I would use that and find a round object about the right size, wrap the wire around it and make a bend for the nose then wrap around again. Then add two ends to it that can hook over his ears.
Did that made sense? I hope so.

only problem with that is that his glasses don't actually have a frame around the lenses. the clear (lucite?) stems attach directly to the sides of his lenses. (unless he's gotten new glasses since i last watched? i don't watch all that often anymore.) umm... what about poly clay or resin?
