1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Toile fabric covered bucket on: December 05, 2004 05:30:27 PM
I saw painted toile buckets in a store for like $80 and decided I could replicate it using fabric and fabric glue.  My friend and I tried it with tiny buckets as a test run this weekend, and I think they came out cute!

We used heavy duty fabric adhesive on metal buckets and lined them with double-bias tape.

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Best Ribbon Site Ever! on: May 21, 2004 03:35:56 PM
After months of searching, I have found a site with all kinds of striped and print and embroidered grosgrain ribbon!

http://www.lesbonribbon.com/

very excited!

They also have D rings and Rhinestone belt buckles

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Grosgrain Ribbon? on: April 18, 2004 07:28:46 PM
I'm looking for a good site that sells patterned grosgrain ribbon.  Specifically, I like the Lily Pulitzer-esque ones with whales and stuff, but I'd take some pretty cool stripey ones.  Anyone know? I've searched eeeeeverywhere!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / RiBbOn NeCkLaCeS GaLoRe on: April 14, 2004 05:14:54 AM
OK, I saw these in Urban Outfitters and made a variation of them using pearls. I have made them in every color with interchangeable ribbon.  It's an obsession and I wear one every day.  Someone told me the other day that i looked like I was wrapped up like a present.  I love love love them and they're so easy.  I buy packages of toggles and just use the ring part on the ends so you can interchange the ribbons.
The pearls are 14mm glass pearls, kinda like Wilma Flintstone...

***someone asked me how I did the ends, so I thought I'd add a picture of the toggles.  The ones from Urban are strung differently and you can't change the ribbon.  I also just made this silver one with my new beads...

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Easy red toile purse on: April 14, 2004 05:12:20 AM
Continuing my toile craze, I made this red bag with bamboo handles for my friend using a Sewing for Dummies pattern.  It's muy cute, but a little larger than I hoped...but still cute!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / easy pink toile purse on: April 14, 2004 05:08:45 AM
OK, I've been obsessed with the toile craze lately, and I LOVE pink, so I made a square bottomed bag out of pink toile to satisfy my craving.  It was easy. I made the straps out of ribbon and covered the top edge in double bias tape. I covered a piece of cardboard in the pink toile and used it as the bottom piece(not shown).

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Giant Chunky Pearl Necklace with Engagement Style Diamond Charm on: February 10, 2004 04:05:17 PM
My friend and I saw these necklaces in a store and were smitten by them but too broke to pay $88! We went to the bead store and bought 14mm glass pearls and bought the diamond pendants from an antique store that sold chandalier (sp?) pieces.  They came out so cute and now we're making bracelets to match! The ones in the store had charms of things like the Eiffel tower and stuff but I haven't found one I liked yet.
