1  Toile fabric covered bucket in Completed Projects by kdritter on: December 05, 2004 05:30:27 PM
I saw painted toile buckets in a store for like $80 and decided I could replicate it using fabric and fabric glue.  My friend and I tried it with tiny buckets as a test run this weekend, and I think they came out cute!

We used heavy duty fabric adhesive on metal buckets and lined them with double-bias tape.

I found a great ribbon site in my several month long quest for grosgrain.  They even have the cutie ones with whales and pineapples and stuff!!!  They sell the D rings and rhinestone buckles too.

I haven't done it yet, but i'm dying to paint some Dr. Scholl's with little purses and stuff!

Here's an example--they cost $123.00, and I know I could totally do that!

has anyone tried this?

4  RiBbOn NeCkLaCeS GaLoRe in Beads: Completed Projects by kdritter on: April 14, 2004 05:14:54 AM
OK, I saw these in Urban Outfitters and made a variation of them using pearls. I have made them in every color with interchangeable ribbon.  It's an obsession and I wear one every day.  Someone told me the other day that i looked like I was wrapped up like a present.  I love love love them and they're so easy.  I buy packages of toggles and just use the ring part on the ends so you can interchange the ribbons.
The pearls are 14mm glass pearls, kinda like Wilma Flintstone...

***someone asked me how I did the ends, so I thought I'd add a picture of the toggles.  The ones from Urban are strung differently and you can't change the ribbon.  I also just made this silver one with my new beads...

5  Easy red toile purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kdritter on: April 14, 2004 05:12:20 AM
Continuing my toile craze, I made this red bag with bamboo handles for my friend using a Sewing for Dummies pattern.  It's muy cute, but a little larger than I hoped...but still cute!

6  easy pink toile purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kdritter on: April 14, 2004 05:08:45 AM
OK, I've been obsessed with the toile craze lately, and I LOVE pink, so I made a square bottomed bag out of pink toile to satisfy my craving.  It was easy. I made the straps out of ribbon and covered the top edge in double bias tape. I covered a piece of cardboard in the pink toile and used it as the bottom piece(not shown).

7  Re:Felt turtle on T in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kdritter on: April 14, 2004 04:57:25 AM
I love sewing on felt designs! I made a hat for Valentines day.  I got a free "Sex and the City" hat online and felt a little weird wearing it, so I sewed some felt hearts over it!

8  Giant Chunky Pearl Necklace with Engagement Style Diamond Charm in Beads: Completed Projects by kdritter on: February 10, 2004 04:05:17 PM
My friend and I saw these necklaces in a store and were smitten by them but too broke to pay $88! We went to the bead store and bought 14mm glass pearls and bought the diamond pendants from an antique store that sold chandalier (sp?) pieces.  They came out so cute and now we're making bracelets to match! The ones in the store had charms of things like the Eiffel tower and stuff but I haven't found one I liked yet.
