1  help with silhouette centerpieces in Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions by rebellemichelle on: February 27, 2008 12:09:35 PM
For my wedding that is in less then two weeks I was trying to make my own centerpieces. I made a silhouette of my fiance and I and tried to use posterboard to cut them out.  I am having a problem cutting them out because the center of the paper is white so and if the cuts aren't exact the top layer of paper is ripping and the white is showing through.  I am not sure if I should be using a different kind of paper, or if i am using the wrong kind of cutting tool. The paper needs to be thick enough to stand up, it should be about 12 inches tall.  i have even started trying to look for like a printing place that would be able to do it but I am not having any luck because i am not sure what I should be looking for.

It seems that some of these scrapbook machines might be able to do what I want but I am not going to buy a machine just to make 16 center pieces.

any help would be amazing

2  bag interfacing question in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by rebellemichelle on: May 09, 2007 02:51:56 PM
i got a pattern that calls for a layer of polyester fleece for just the top part. Can I use any thick material or maybe that really stiff fusiable interfacing to cushion or pad the handle part?
The pattern I am using is

it's kind of hard to see the purse part but hopefully you can...

and it just calls for the fleece in the flat closure part if that makes sense.

what do you all think?

3  60's mod skirt I made (with some help from a craftster friend!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rebellemichelle on: March 03, 2007 11:22:44 PM

The skirt was based on a skirt I saw when I was about 16 years old in a thrift store, but it was too tiny for me to even consider buying. I always dreamed of making one and then I had this djay event I was promoting and decided that I must make it in time to wear it to out on that night.

I am not sure what other information you need...I made the skirt using a simplicity pattern, and then made a template for the arrows using a quilting ruler, cut out a front and back for each arrow, and then sewed them together and turned them inside out...sewed them on and voila!

My partner in crime is Desiree, (I love needles) she helped me a lot and is a huge part of the reason it turned out so fab!

4  my first solo sewing project. A sha sha dream bag! (sort of img heavy) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rebellemichelle on: July 29, 2006 03:36:54 PM
My Mom usually helps me a lot with sewing, and by a lot I mean she takes over and does half of it herself, heh.  but they went away this weekend, and I needed a last minute birthday present so I decided to attempt a sha sha dream bag, mainly because it requires little to no measuring (well in my head anyway).  I totally forgot to do a bunch of stuff like measure from the edge of the material to make sure my pattern was straight, but I think it ended up pretty good anyway.  Comments would be awesome!

note the surrounding disaster area!

me after my first solo sewing project!

I should look happier, but I am just tired!

5  okie I have ideas for the wedding present, but I need some feedback! (img heavy) in Needlework: Discussion and Questions by rebellemichelle on: July 06, 2006 02:49:39 PM
Okie so I was thinking of doing a banner type thing (like the kind you can buy from sublime stitching) and since they are kind of into the whole rockabilly/tattoo style thing, I thought I would use some vintage looking images (plus they are easy to turn into patterns) If I decided to use them I would obviously buy the images because I can't draw to save my life! yay!

Here's the most traditional bride and groom deal..

then I thought maybe I could use this cute dancing couple, and put the juke box in there, and maybe some cute swallows, and stuff like that...

or then there are these faces taht are cute, but I don't know maybe floating heads would be super creepy?

I could always do the really traditional heart/dagger thing with other traditional tatto elements...

Okie so tell me what you think and be honest, if my ideas are crap i would rather know now!

Thanks!

8  help refinishing a linen/hope chest in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by rebellemichelle on: June 21, 2006 11:52:36 AM
Alright, I have this really cheap hope chest that I bought a long time ago.  I am using it for a coffee table at the moment, (it will go back in my room or somewhere else sometime in the future) and I think it's really ugly.  I wanted to try and stencil it or paint it somehow, but I can't decide on a theme.

I was thinking either using one an album cover, and using that as the theme with the band logos stenciled on it and what have you

Or I was thinking of doing it Sailor Jerry/old school tattoo theme with the birds, and what not.  I am not sure I would really stencil the birds, maybe for the outline, and then free hand paint them, or get someone that was good at art to do that. I can do a lot of stuff, but drawing is not one of them.

I have never stenciled before so I am not even sure what I am doing, but I have been doing a lot of reading, and I think I can handle it.

What do you all think? or do you have a different even better theme? I am open to suggestions!

It sort of looks like that, but without that detail on the top. it's even plainer.

10  sublime true love pillow cases image heavy in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by rebellemichelle on: September 02, 2005 06:44:28 PM
I am so tired I don't even know if this all will make sense.

pillow #2

and this is the back

I was so so tired when I was finishing the letters and french knots, it did not turn out as great as I wanted it to, but whatever it's the back they look pretty on the front, I think thats all that really matters anyway.

I think these are all from the same pillow, I guess it's good if I can't tell the difference. I took pictures of both, but I didn't lable them very well I guess. It's been a super busy day, I stayed up sooo late finishing them, and now they are off to Toronto with Phil (my boyfriend) for the newlyweds to enjoy.

okie no there is tow different pillows here, good lord, I am tired.

and there are stupid camera spots.  anyway enjoy
