11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Willow sculpture carnival parade piece. on: May 15, 2008 05:33:56 AM
Just wanted to share a few images of our carnival project from last summer.

We made a few items, a giant peacock, which stood about 18 foot high and about 14 foot long.  We made willow frame work in pieces for the head, and 3 cage sections for the back.  The tail was made from a few pieces of bamboo cane and woven with willow to strengthen.  Most of the cagework was covered in very light nylon silk.  The head was covered in tissue papers and painted where needed.  Then sealed with PVA glue to prevent rain damage.  OH and it did RAIN.

I wasn't sure quite where to post this!  Anyway, this is a near finished smocked panel that I will use for a bed cushion.  The fabric is shot dupion pure silk and all the threads are pure silk too.  The beads are glass and metal.

It seems as if the scrapbooking department of this site has fewer visitors than some of the others, but never mind.....here is a pic of my latest addition to my web scrapbooking album!

Ok, Ive actually gotten around to doing my own digital scrapbooking for a change, rather than just making templates for others!!  This one is my first attempt, I just wish i could get the original size picture up here because you just cant see enough detail at all!!

Oh well, you get the idea anyway.  Smiley

18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How long have you been knitting for? on: September 10, 2005 01:58:24 PM
Hi there,
I have just found the knitting section, so thought I would say hello and be nosey Smiley

How long have you all been knitting for, and what was your proudest knitting achievement?

I learned to knit when I was four, and I have just taught my son who is eight.  I did teach him a few years ago, but since then he got into yugiohcards and beyblades and forgot all about knitting!  It didnt take him long to get the hang of it again though Tongue

Sadly I have never made anything fantastic, and have a habit of buying beautiful but hard-to-work wool that sticks to everything or has a tension mind of its own....but i am a sucker for fluffy,hairy,furry,3D,glittery,sparkly stuff, hahahaha....so i bring it on myself.  I just forced myself to buy my first plain cream 4ply ball of wool and may even try another simple pattern this time!!
19  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / mask-o-mastik,crochet/spiderman stylee on: September 09, 2005 02:52:24 AM
I will put a bit more of an explanation up later if anyone is interested to know how I did this, but have to work so hope you like the pics  Wink

This full head and body outfit was made by myself out of rubber bath sealant, with full laced up arm gauntlets too....All UV reactive in black light, and the colour nobbles on top (hair) i did by mixing sealant with ground UV pigment paints...........  I have never seen anything like this before, and have never since!!!!

I have also made rubber tops like crazy string vests for girls too, with crazy rubber colours..........it is fascinating to work with, and get lots of comments wearing the clothes out!!

I did follow a natural progession and make a few jewellery items later on too, but everyone nabbed those off me before i got to photograph them.....boohoo
20  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / free scrapbooking papers for download on: September 09, 2005 01:43:57 AM
Hi there, wasnt sure which bit of this forum to post in, so have got more photos up in the other scrapforum too!

Would you like to be able to download and print scrapbooking/collage papers for free???  I am thinking of putting a whole section on this in my site in a few weeks time, so would really appreciate your feedback...  Have you downloaded similar stuff in the past anywhere, are there a lot of free resources for this sort of thing  etc, etc.  The thumbnail shown is a tie-dye effect paper, which is a bit "radical" compared to the other sedate floral designs....   Grin   comments please!
