Yes, I have done a few in the past, and bought the little glue on hanging tags, like picture hooks for glass.  You can also buy the corner plastic thingys so you can put them directly into a window......

The reason i mounted these from the clip frames is that they can be art on the wall, and have more depth to them than acrylics/waterbased...(oils way too messy!)  Some people get a bit nervous about putting anything directly on to window glass, so this gets round that problem  

and here i go.

i created three large/poster size collages using clippings from my magazines. I have cut out headings, single words, photographs etc. and arranged them with my own personal items to include b/w pics of me and my fam. I have had several people enter my home and stop to read/view my pieces and believing I purchased them until they saw a face they recognized - me or my mom My questions is I would love to create actual posters from these pieces and sell them to friends that I know would love to have them............... ............. should i get permission from the magazine?

.......The only things you would have to get permission for would be to use the pictures from the magazine.  If they appeared in an article, where the magazine had asked say "Elton John" if they could pay him to do an interview in his house and take pictures......then the magazine has the Intellectual right to those photos, not Elton John.   On the other hand, if it was Elton who had commissioned the magazine, and paid them to come and do a feature on himself, then he would by rights be the owner of any images published.........c omplicated I know!!!! 

The words and bog-standard fonts used in print publishing are copyright free.  Any unusual text/logos/heavy design work will be copyrighted, either to the layout publisher or an agency, so you may have a bit of detective work on your hands to find out where to get permission from.

If you are only selling on a small scale local level, not internationally on ebay or similar, you should be fine
