1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / first felt beads please re-read on: October 21, 2005 01:05:16 PM
Okay, so now that I'm over my hurt feelings of no one commenting on this post... Could someone tell me how to make the beads better? ie more round shape... I realize that they weren't perfect- and I am a beginner but some tips would be appreciated.

Thanks  Grin

2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Crafster Dilemma on: October 21, 2005 10:31:41 AM
I looove Crafster - like everyone else! And I get so inspired by all the neat-o things I see here... But, my dilemma is: Is it okay to make a copy of something  & post the results?

I've made a couple of Crafster things, but haven't posted because I can't get past that idea of "copying is bad." (I think school was super pounded into my head)

I would never sell anything I make, but I do like to give it away as gifts...

Do you post? What are your thoughts on this? Am I the only one that feels this way? Huh
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Would you wear a fuzzy dropstitch scarf? on: August 27, 2005 03:35:52 PM
I started this dropstitch scarf this afternoon simply because....well, I could. Here's a pic of a swatch:

I started knitting it in Paton's 'Divine'. Now it's starting to look almost too fuzzy. What do you think? Would you wear a scarf like that? I'm planning on knitting it quite long & to add fringe at the end... I'm just afraid the fuzzy's will make it too messy looking!  Undecided Or is it just me & my issues? All input is appreciated!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Triangle Shawl [w. Better Picture Size] on: August 26, 2005 09:15:56 AM
This is the biggest thing I've knit - I've done only dishcloths & scarves before this... It's my only accessory I'm wearing with my dress for my Vow Renewal Ceremony on September 3rd. So, here it is being modelled by my dress:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/missnecy/S1010003.jpg

It's knit with Cotton Sensation on size 15 US needles. I learned how to increase by knitting into the front & back of one stitch. I also learned how to pick up a dropped stitch and go back and fix a mistake. (which is much more useful than frogging the whole thing!  Grin) I really wanted to knit the Isabeau Purse that someone else posted here, but I'm just not that fast enough... Yet... I've also discovered that I love shawls - so if anyone can point me in the direction of some great patterns, please do!
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / first stencil project - banner on: August 17, 2005 10:47:05 AM
I decided to try my hand at stencilling, and stencilled some fabric to hang over my fireplace:

The picture is blurry (my digicam is only 1.3 mega pixels), but the lettering is super crisp... Eventually I hope to sew on tab tops so I can hang it with a bamboo pole -for now it's just hot glue gunned on the wall. I couldn't wait to see what it looked like up!  Grin

Oh, and it's a Buddhist saying that basically  means "Cherish Life"

Let me know what you think!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What would you substitute for Trellis yarn? on: August 09, 2005 04:46:24 PM
I'd like to knit this shawl I found on the Michael's site:

http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=24198

Which is normally knit with Lion Brand Trellis Yarn... But, this is a bit pricey...  Do you have a substitution suggestion? The pattern is very pretty...
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Vow Renewal Help on: August 02, 2005 07:07:03 PM
We are renewing (reaffirming) our vows on the September Long Weekend and I'm attempting to brainstorm an idea for a hand-crafted "favor." I'm not even sure favor is the word I'm looking for! Just a token of our day, I guess...

This is a very small, informal event involving ourselves, our 3 kidlets, and immediate family. Got any ideas? I'm open!

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Finished my first purse...[Edited] on: July 25, 2005 10:46:13 PM
And this is my first post, too!  Cheesy

So I made this little purse:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/missnecy/S1010004.jpg

I just kind of winged it with a pair of old blue jeans & some left over material... Then, dh asked me if it was for our 7 yr old dd. My response was "no - it's for me!"

Now I'm off to drool at other people's purses...

Thanks for looking!

edited note: Often when I can't sleep I'll go back & change or fix something... so after staring at the purse for a while it now has the slim red band of fabric added to it,and I moved the flower to the left... I also added a bright yellow lining on the inside, but had troubles taking a picture that didn't look like a flash of sunlight.
