11  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Amigurumi Bear on: February 13, 2007 04:41:37 PM
I almost never work from patterns. I swear I must be dyslexic but I find patterns very challenging to read so I try to avoid them.

Umm...so I guess the answer is that there is no pattern ;-)

Indeed!  ICLH!  Thanks for the clarification!

Your welcome but what does ICLH mean?

One leg is directly crocheted from the body and then the other is added like you would change colors, crocheting into the original form.

Clarification requested:  Are the details "felted", ie felted crocheting, or just felt.

They are felt that I attached to the crochet by using a felting needle instead of sewing. I guess that means they are felt that has been felted ;p

By the wool warning, can I assume it's felted?  It's very cute!

The bear isn't felted. I actually used wool blend felt fabric and needle felted it onto the crochet work so the only felting I did was to attach the pistachio colored pieces to the main body.

Sweet Feet is an adorable pistachio colored bunny with felted blue details. Her body has been crocheted and her ears are felted along with her nose, stomach, tail and feet. She sits 7.25 in. from her ears to her rump.

Daisuke Bear is a psychedelic little bear with a pistachio felt nose, feet pads and tummy. His body has been crocheted with wool blend yarn and his eyes are plastic safety locked. He stands 7 in. from his ears to his toes (does not stand on his own).

I have been experimenting with making puffy cheeks on my amigurumis and I think this guy turned out pretty well.

I have also started felting parts right onto the dolls instead of sewing them.
Warning! it only works with 100% wool or blend yarn and 100% wool or blend felt.

Wow, thanks for all the lovely comments.

I would like to make another bunny in a different color scheme but the fuzzy yarn was a random buy from a craft store that went out of business and I don't have other fuzzy yarns with quite the same weight.

I tried to recreate it using some fun fur and a sport weight yarn combined but it has become some sort of abominable monster instead. I'm no good at making the same thing over again anyway. All of my stuff ends up being OOAK. ^_^

Thanks, at first I wasn't sure about the ears but the more I look at her the more I just want to love her to bits!

Yellow wool/cotton blend and green acrylic fun fur have been crocheted together to create this sweet girl. She has plastic lock-back eyes and cotton floss details. She sits about 6 inches high at the tip of her ear.
