I was in a store checking out the yoga bags and they really looked like a pant leg to me so that got me thinking. I've made a ton of these. Everytime I'm at the thrift store I pick up drawstring pants. Here's the directions --- super easy.
Here's the finished product:
Here's how to do it. Find a pair of drawstring pants:
Cut them in half:
figure out how much of the pant leg you need and cut the top of the pant leg off. The leg will not be rectangular so cut it so it is:
Next figure out what is going to be your strap. Sometimes the pants come with really cool belts, but if not you can make one out of the waist or use a belt or get creative. In this case I used the waist of the pants.
Now cut a hole a couple inches from the bottom (the drawstring side) to insert the strap:
Do the same with the top half (you don't need to cut it because there is a hole from the trimming). Turn it inside out and sew it:
Now find some fabric from the top part that was cut off to make the base. I like to use the pockets just because. Cut that piece in a circle estimating the bottom and sew it. I use a pretty heavy stitch to make sure it will hold.
All done!
