1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 5 ENTRIES / "Dangerous" Cape (no pics though) on: August 24, 2005 12:31:58 PM
My response to the challenge was to use the "DANGER" red and black tape (like Police Line- Do Not Cross tape only different) to crochet a "bullfighting cape".
The tape was too wide, so I unrolled it from the spool and cut in half lengthwise.  Then I ran out of DANGER tape and switched to red surveyor's tape for the finish.
I realize WHY people don't crochet with plastic tape!  Very unforgiving stuff.  I had to use PAM (registered trademark) to get the tape to quit sticking to the crochet hook (and itself), plus, the finished cape is pretty stiff.
 .... I had fun, though!

I see some AWEsome ideas here!  Craftsters are amazing!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / sticky plastic bags, help on: August 10, 2005 04:44:48 PM
so, I've been searching all the posts about crochet-ing with plastic bags, but how do you keep them from sticking together, or to the hook??? Or is it that I'm trying to keep the tension too high?  All I've got so far is a GLUMPH of plastic. Should go in the Stitch and Botch page. ha.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / looking for crochet patterns for a cloche cap from the 20's-30's on: July 23, 2005 10:49:16 PM
My grandmother left me a beautiful dress and coat from that era but in order to look "right" I need to have one of those cloche type hats... btw, I have long hair so I would probly wear it in a bun on the neck so that I could still have the close-to-the-head cap look.  I only really do crochet, and I did a bunch of searches, but got stumped.  I'm thinking of the kind of cap a "flapper grrl" might wear.  Anybody?  I was hopin that if I waited long enough the style would come back "in" but so far, no go.  Thanks in advance everybody!
