I LOVE the hitchhikers! I especially love the additions of the tombstones and fence. SUPER jealous! As usual, beautiful work KittyKill.

I did this piece for my partner, Mellius01, for the Three Tiny Movie Things. I have never done much portraiture with my embroidery, and I definitely haven't done one where I was filling in tons of stitches instead of outlining and defining a feature. So, I learned A LOT. I actually have some more portraitures planned so I can practice more.

If you don't know who this is...shame on you!  Wink

14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Disney's Genie small wristlet on: May 26, 2016 09:01:13 AM
I made this for my partner Mellius01 the Three Tiny Movie Things swap. One of the movies she selected was Disney's 'Aladdin.' Being from the SF Bay Area, Robin Williams has a special place in my heart and his passing a couple years ago was devastating. As soon as I saw that, I had to do something to honor him.

I took the small Coraline from Swoon patterns and reduced her an inch. Everything else stayed the same. I found fabric the same color as Genie, found the perfect pose, used some stitch witchery to fuse it to the main bag fabric, and then hand embroidered Genie to the bag. I used Pellon's 'Print-Stitch-Dissolve' and printed the quote I wanted to use in the font I wanted..and hand-stitched that as well.

Yes. I am aware that the beginning of the quote is incorrect. It is supposed to be 'phenomenal cosmic power' not 'unlimited cosmic power.'  Sad

I almost just did the quote; but decided that I wanted the lamp there.

Butterflies are a symbol of change and renewal. I wanted to use them here to show that Robin moved onto bigger and better things. Released from the burden of his illness.

My partner really liked this item. I hope you guys do too!

My partner, aisy, and I actually both live in the SF Bay Area and decided to meet up instead of mailing out. Aisy was kind enough to meet me in the City, a much appreciated concession in the Bay Area. We met at a wonderful little chocolate shop called Dandelion in the Mission District that also sells drinks and pastries. I got a frozen hot chocolate, which was super yummy. We chatted for quite a while, until I realized what time it was. I had a watercolor class scheduled that afternoon! So we did a quick switcheroo before I had to beat feet out of there. It was so very nice to meet another Craftster! This was my first time!

Now on to the loot!

Aisy artfully painted Ursula on a glass dome! So very cool! Please excuse the pictures. It was pretty hard to get a good picture of her. These pics do not do her justice. I just have to find the perfect place to display her!

We decided to do an extra and Aisy wood burned a Stitch (my FAVORITE) onto a wooden spoon. He is already in the kitchen!

And my drink! It was super yummy!

Aisy took pictures of us together with our loot. Hopefully she gets a chance to post that picture and pictures of her stuff. Aisy, if you want, I can post pictures if you didn't get a chance to get pictures. It was great meeting you!

I vote for June/July. If we could post here when it is ready to go up live, that would be great. I've added a notifier to this thread.
19  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Gotham baby quilt on: May 19, 2016 10:38:28 AM
This is so massively awesome. Did you make the pattern yourself? Or did you get it from somewhere. I might have to make this for my first grandchild. My daughter is obsessed with Batman.
20  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Felt Badge Swap (SU May 17 - May 28, SO June 27) on: May 19, 2016 09:55:59 AM
I signed up! And I told myself no more swaps until all my other projects are done!  Roll Eyes So silly. The galleries from the last two swaps won me over. Such awesomeness!!!
