1  einstein and anti-nike stencils :) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by call_me_nny on: September 17, 2008 08:21:06 PM
so last night i made

this patch (that i'm planning on sewing onto a shirt, i just had this fabric handy and was in a very carpe diem mood.) i'm also probably going to make a caption that says 'was Einsteins theory good? relatively.' heeheeeheeee
i got the stencil from http://www.pumpkinglow.com/Patterns3.htm (near the end of the page)

shows the clarity of the lines (messed up a bit in the forehead but nearly nothing bled!)

looks smaller than it is Smiley

then i made an anti-nike shirt, modified slightly from this stencil
http://stencilpunks.mattrunningnaked.com/nike_impale_red.gif
http://stencilpunks.mattrunningnaked.com/nike_impale_black.gif

my first ever two color stencil Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

the red on top of the black comes off looking like blood, not like rusty kinda gross red-black Cheesy

action shot to show placement. NIKE STINKS! (ignore my one apparently amorphous boob)

i got a lot of compliments and questions on the nike one, which i wore to school today

educate the masses! huzzah!

2  THE MELOPHOBIACS (first silk screen) in Screen Printing: Completed Projects by call_me_nny on: September 07, 2008 09:36:32 PM
heyoooooo!

so this is about my first silk screen. i made t-shirts for my band the melophobiacs

unfortunately, my shirt got destroyed in the wash (blue dye got ALL over the place...i don't think it was my fault?) and i set it aside somewhere that i forget so i can't take a close up

these are pictures of me and my fellow band mates wearing the shirts Cheesy

heh you can't see it but i really like this picture. me playing the drum-o's

jasmine, our rhythm guitarist

sean, our bassist

joey, our guitarist

me again, but this time from the front

i made those about 3 hours before a concert, so there's definetely room for improvement, especially with the logo in general.

questions? comments?

3  first 2 (4) attempts at journal making! china journal and polaroid album in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by call_me_nny on: September 07, 2008 09:16:33 AM
so the very first journal i made was a photo album to hold my polaroids, because i wanted something extra special for them

hurrah!

(side)

my second attempt was three journals pretty much at the same time. one of my very best friends was going to china for a month (first time since she was adopted Cheesy) so i thought I should make her a travel journal!

but then i got obsessed and made a photo notebook, and gave her photo corners.

and then i thought, well, threes a good number and made her a little address book!

it's so addicting
constructive criticism? i don't know anything about bookbinding, so if anything seems wrong, tell me!

4  Cheap and Easy Homemade Silkscreen Frame in Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions by call_me_nny on: June 04, 2008 08:18:47 PM
Actually the easiest thing I've ever done.

I've been meaning to get into silkscreening for a while now, but I've been far too confused. Finally, yesterday it clicked!

Taking advantage of my new-enlightened self before it went away I set into action!

Unfortunately, after spending all of my money on tickets to see the Circle Jerks (!!!!!) I did not have 21 bucks to spend on a frame...

So I set out on making my own. I discovered that every site said that an aluminum frame was better, but there were only instructions on how to make a WOODEN frame so i decided to figure out how to make my own aluminum.

Materials:
Aluminum Picture Frame (free for me, but probably >5)
Material (free for me, but it can cost a lot. I suggest finding alternatives like i did)
Adhesive (free for me, but spray adhesive costs probably like 15 bucks)

Step 1: Procure materials.

For the fabric I used an organdy vintage apron. People may gasp at that but my mom deals in collectibles so I have at least 20 hanging around my house.

Step 2. Lay your Frame on top of the fabric, and cut about an inch (or as much as you feel you need) around it.

Step 3. Spray one corner (the top and sides of the frame, with a one inch margin. That means just one inch away from the corner). Attach the fabric to it. Your hands will get mighty sticky but I suggest you use your thumbs to hold onto it while it sets.

(old research for Xeroderma Pigmentosum. holla!)

Step 4. After that one corner is completely attached, stretch the fabric to the diagonal corner. Repeat Step 3, making sure that the fabric is as taut as you can get it.

Step 5. Repeat on the corners left. The sides will still be loose. Hurray! Halfway there!

Step 6. Starting with one of the small sides, spray that, stretch it as tight as it will go and hold. Repeat with all of the sides. If you have someone who can help you, have them hold the frame while you spray and stretch. If you don't, no worries, i didn't either.

SO HAPPY SO EASY!

Step 7. Cut off extra fabric

Step 8. GET TO SILK SCREENING

(shameless band promotion: myspace.com/themelophobiacs. there's nothing really there yet because we only have one song recorded and it's on a compilation that doesn't come out until next week but friend us and keep checking back! we are all quite nice!)

I hope you liked it, it's my first go with screenprinting and with a tutorial so we'll see...

loves!

it was then I spotted a pair of little girls pajama pants in bright blue leopard print, and I almost fainted.

I had no school the next day, so i burrowed down into my room and created this

6  harry potter trading cards bag! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by call_me_nny on: April 14, 2006 01:18:21 AM
so im kindofcompletely obsessed with harry potter

so, of course, i need to have all of the merch, including the stupid trading cards i still don't understand how to play

i collect them only for the special ones, and then theres these regular cards that...well...i don't know quite how to explain them, seeing as they have no purpose, but there are about a zillion of them, so i figured, why not make a bag out of them?

side view

inside

(other)side view

little pocket that's stupid and honestly cannot hold anything

i just covered them with clear duct tape to hold them together and make it water proof

about 2 hours all-in-all

7  Packing Tape Bags/wallet!! (first EVER attempts and post!!) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by call_me_nny on: July 30, 2005 06:49:06 PM
hmm...well i actually made these a WHILE ago, before i knew about craftser...i wasa home sick and in a creative mood and had just discovered the wonders of packing tape  Grin

so...yeah

this is the first time ive posted a project on craftster!!!

man, those harry potter card packs come with WAY to many lesson cards, i just like to collect the regular ones...i dont actually play

so i made a bag...

...the entire bag...(oh and the handles only LOOK crooked)

...the inside...

...the side...

...the lovely inside pocket that really is too thin to hold anything...

the staps broke the first time i tried to use it (i piled all my (hardback) HP books in it...there was 5 at the time..) and so i re-inforced them ALOT with more tape and card board and now they're fine (in the pic they arent re-inforced)

simple simple simple...

...just a bag...

...the side of the bag...

the handles, again, broke when i used it so i, again, re-enforced them with lotsa packing tape, it cant hold much but itll hold all i really need (ipod, cell, gum, wallet, mini journal, mascara, sharpie)

and im almost ashamed to post this it was so crappy, but it has sentimental value

my VERY first attempt at EVER using packing tape was this wallet...oh and this is after like 4 months of everyday use, so it looks even worse, but whatever...

...front...

...this is it open...

...inside...

...the back...

well, yeah, if you ahve any qyestuons just ask
