81  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Goldi Doesn't Like the Bears on: August 26, 2005 08:25:50 AM
Hi!  I just finished this painting.  It has been years since I done anything this large, 48" x 48".  I also have trouble with putting more than one figure in a painting.  In this one I was able to get 3 figures into it.
This painting is based on people who move into the country but then complain when having to deal with wildlife.
82  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / Looking for contemporary art done in embroidery on: August 25, 2005 01:40:45 PM
Hi, I'm looking for someone in the UK to let me know about all the cool stuff happening in contemporary embroidery.  Here is the USA, with a few wonderful exceptions, most of what you see is decorative, and retro.  I'd like to see some contemporary art done in embroidery.  Do you know of any?

Let me know!

83  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / My Friends Chicken Coup / The Chicken Chaple on: August 19, 2005 11:32:04 PM
I had to post this.  My friend is to shy to do it herself, but she said I could do it.
In Jean's coup she has placed stainglass windows which tell the story of Christ in the form of a chicken.  Now don't get mad, Jean is into art history and historically the rooster has been used to represent Christ. Inside of the ceiling is painted blue with tin stars stuck to it.  There is also a chandaler (sic) w/ chickens hanging inside.  Unfortunately, I don't have photo's of the newest edition to the chaple, a steaple w/ stainedglass.

85  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Embroidery Patterns on: July 30, 2005 09:58:35 AM
I am thinking about starting a embroidery pattern business.  But, I have a question.  What would most embroiderers prefer, sets of simple patterns or elaborate patterns or both?

Hey, this one is part of my bird series.  I wanted it to look like a tatoo.

87  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / A Very Angry Little Bird on: July 22, 2005 08:17:09 AM
I have started a series of bird embroideries for a show I am doing with some of my friends.  This particular bird is based on a trip back east.  It was the first time I saw a cardinal.  They are very fiesty.

I've been an artist for 20 years. Don't even try to guess how old I am!  I just started embroidery this last year.  I really enjoy doing portraits of my dog friends.
