these are so cute! I did see the tute, and yours have inspired me to get out and buy some shrinky dinks (with my coupon, of course). I was trying to think what to use it on this week....

I love your pincushion, too! Everything looks great! Keep up the good work!

just a tip, I went to our a garage sale held by the teens at our church the last day and they were selling anything you could fit in a paper bag for $1.00. They had TONS of clothes left, so, I put every jean I could find in 3 bags and walked out with tons of jeans for $3! I also pick some intersting ones out at half price day at the thrift stores.

keep up the good work!

I like the straight stitches on the circles and think they look fine. I am sure it is hard to straight when sewing in a circle!

Can I ask what is the size of the finished block and what size seam allowance did you use? Oh, and the circle size....This is really great looking and I'm thinking I may give it a whirl with some of these jeans (5 tubs full).

Once again, I think it looks great and you did an awesome job for your first quilt. I love denim quilts in the winter. They are so heavy and warm!
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: BASIC sewing book? on: November 02, 2006 07:17:36 PM
Reader's Digest is a good one. At a lot of thrift stores I have been seeing McCall's and Singers, etc. learn to sew manuals (in big binders) for cheap ($2-3).  They are from the 60's? but they have good basic garment sewing instruction. If you are going to order one on-line, I would get RD from Amazon.

I love it! I have been saving old jeans forever to make something like this. Did you use the fabric seen in the circle as the middle of your "sandwich"? ex. Denim,  cute fabric, flannel baby blankets... Also, did you cut the circles out after sewing? I am assuming the circle stitch is your quilting holding the layers together.

I have a few patterns for variation sewing or appliqueing something on top of the square, but I think I may like the fabric circle surprises better!

Great job!
