I made this purse/messengerbag type thing about a month ago from two of my Dad's old work shirts that were going into the trash. I've never sewn anything without a pattern before, so I used (loosely) some measurements from Knitty.com. Seriously. If you look closely, you can see I used the button hole placket for the straps. The flap was already hemmed, I used the back of the shirt, and added beads to help hold it down. I think I'm going to add a snap or something, as it flips open a lot. I guess that's it. I use it mostly for knitting projects, and on trips for misc stuff I want close to my seat. These pic were taken right after I finished it, by now it looks a lot more worn and frayed.
