1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Underwire Bra wire for purse handles ?? !! on: May 15, 2004 05:19:09 PM
As I was sorting through and cleaning my bedroom (UGH! I figured if I was getting after the kiddies for their rooms being messy I really should clean mine! )  anyways...I came across some bras that I don't wear anymore and was snipping off the good straps and the hook thingys and thought hmmmmm.....let's check out this evil underwire stuff.   WOW!  Great base for small purse handles !!  Either wrap them with ribbon or cording or maybe even put them through plastic tubing.  Large holed beads would fit over them also.  Not sure exactly how to attach them but it should not be too difficult.  If anyopne tries this send  me a message cuz i know i won't try it for a few weeks. I ahve to get some NON-crafty stuff done soon Tongue
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Easy Curtains :) on: May 13, 2004 05:13:43 AM
This is really crafty...not too much work/talent was involved but so many people seem genuinely surprised when they see them that i thought maybe i should post.   We redecorated my youngest daughters room  and couldn't find material or curtains that looked right.  I had some tie dyed sheets that looked pretty good but that would involve sewing and I just didn't feel like it at the time. lol (bad mommy)

I had bought some great thick plush beach towels to make into a cuddly day bed cover (ended up using a fab striped fabric shower curtain!) so the towels were just sitting there.    The towels were the perfect width for the window so i just folded the edge over to the front, (made a nice detailed border) and safety pinned it . The pins are on the back. Slid a skinney bamboo pole through it and shabam* instant curtains!  I added (pinned on)beaded fringe in two colors to jazz it up.  Now when I get around to making "REAL" curtains the beach towels can be used for actually beach towels!

6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Men's Ties / Neckties on: February 11, 2004 08:47:27 AM

Ok first I have to confess I Love ties! I always have and now i have two girls that love them also.  We're always doing something fun with them and collecting them. If you read Dear Abby you may have seen the different uses people have been sending in for old ties...the standards like belts, purses, skirts, etc. but yesterday i saw the funnest one. Make a christmas tree skirt !!! I'm thinking how fun would that be made out of christmas ties Huh We have a huge collection including comic strip charachters, tree lights, snowmen, some really cool ties! (can you tell I'm excited lol)

Some other ideas were  aprons, church altar cloths to use on father's day , rugs, tablerunners, bears, wall hanging, quilted wreath and this sounded very cool...a prom dress! lol Some very nifty ideas. Time for a tie hunt Smiley Make sure you post pics if you try anything new with ties.
