11  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Ariel bacon on: September 21, 2007 09:34:27 AM
Okay so it's just a flying pig. I found the pattern somewhere here, but I did a search and couldn't find it again. If you are the lovely Craftster who contributed the pattern, PM me so I can give you credit! It is an amazingly cute pattern and my daughter loves pigs. She requested her pig have green wings.

Edit: the lovely Craftster responsible would be myloveasdeep thanks epsilon!

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / CapN Crunch @ the Newsboys pics galore on: August 20, 2007 10:25:41 PM
Hi everyone. I've been a bit nervous about posting this but I'm pretty darn proud of it. A few years ago I got the idea that I'd make my hubby a Capn Crunch costume for the Newsboys concert. (They have a song called "Breakfast" it's great fun people throw cereal) And in true Craftster spirit I got a plan. I thought, if I make a costume, they'll see him and he'll get to go on stage and he'll meet his favorite band! I've made some mods as the years go by so here it is.
This is a close up of the hat/collar because he can't always remember to pull it back up.  I also made the "thingies" on the shoulder much better w/braided gold rope, gold lame' and fringe later on. This pic had kids that were not our own so I colored them away!

Him meeting Peter onstage.

Him singing "breakfast"  with them...it was bad Cheesy

a better shot of his whole out fit. (I didn't make the boots) but I did make the pants. Notice the sign says "no capn crunch beyond this point...ooo bad Capn!  Shocked

It was from a pirates costume pattern, I modified the heck out of it. I'm pretty proud!  Grin

Okay, what do you think? please be kind... Embarrassed

13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / vintage swans on: August 05, 2007 12:18:55 AM
I had this 50's embroidery pattern pack lying around, and they transfered all right. So I began looking for stuff to put them on before they died Cheesy. My daughter liked the swans so I made her a pillow case out of it. I had to scan because I lost my camera batteries...again.
p.s. sorry about the size I just got photo shop elements and I have no idea how to work it yet!

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / cancer/chemo hat help on: May 18, 2007 09:31:53 PM
I'd like to knit a hat for a lady in my church who has gone through various treatments for brain cancer. (3 that I know of) the full scale chemo/radiation etc. She keeps losing her hair. I want to be able to give it to her soon because it's moving towards summer. I'd really like to knit it out of Rowan Calmer because it's so nice and soft and breathes so well. I don't really want to knit Shedir because it is sort of time consuming. But I do want something with some style to it. Any suggestions?
15  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Spinning silk on: April 14, 2007 06:39:36 AM
Hello! I have a question about spinning silk. I have it down for the most part, drafting is a little different and I seem to end up with little fibers all over me. If there's a better way for drafting, I'm open to suggestions! But my question lies in this. Being that this was an impulse purchase, I have not had time to research. Do you set the twist in silk? If so, is it the same as wool? If not  how do you ensure it stays together? How do you wash it? Do you treat it like a silk garment? Okay, so more than one question. Thanks in advance!
16  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Broken on: February 08, 2007 08:57:21 PM

17  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Crafty Clutter on: June 08, 2006 03:14:52 PM
I hope this is the right place to post this...I'm calling all of you organized craftsters. Like a lot of people, I live in an apt with my family. And they are unreasonable, they think it is selfish of me to expect them to sleep on the porch or something so I can have my craft room. Being that we're all craftsters, I know that you can understand not parting with your crafting stash, even as it threatens to take over. I've been to lots of clutter-reducing sites and I'm not opposed to getting rid of things. Just not my craft stuff. Ya know? So...small space, not a lot of money, not willing to part with my stash..HELP?? How CAN I keep my stash organized and accessable AND not so cluttered?
18  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 3 Little Pigs...moved on: May 03, 2006 04:16:01 PM

Okay, I was so inspired by Floresita's Shopping Cats I decided to make a shirt.  Originally I posted it in that thread, but decided it seemed more polite to make a new post. Besides my talent is nowhere near hers!

My little girl LOVES pigs. But because they don't fit into what others think is cute, there is a serious lack of pig-wear. So I used a vintage pattern (link is on Floresita's post) and made her a t shirt. When she saw it she spun around and hugged it. Be gentle, I haven't embroidered in like 6 years. Here it is!

19  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Basic Cable Beanie on: April 08, 2006 10:48:29 PM
Well, I've done lots of projects from S&B books, however I always forget to take pics. So this the basic cable beanie I made for a kid at church who shaved his head for $600 for a fundraiser. Brave kid. Thing is, the person who shaved his head took off the gaurd. His poor little noggin is freezin! So I told him I would make him one. Here's hubby modeling .

20  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Jesse's Flames? on: September 10, 2005 11:14:27 AM
Okay, I have seen a few people on here that have asked  for help on Jesse's Flames (SNBN). I propose we all get together an work on it.

This is the first time my hubby has ever said he'd wear a sweater I made (shrieks of joy!) and even helped pick out the yarn!! (He ususally breaks out in hives as soon as I mention the word yarn! And as soon as we get in the car to go to the LYS he becomes like a man condemned to death...lol) So needless to say I am super excited to knit this. And must do so soon before he changes his mind.

I figure if I make something for him, my growing stash won't bother him as much... Grin
