I'm a bit nervous sharing this with the amazing talent here, but I'm pretty happy with it. I decided I needed to hone my skills in pencil drawing and in a moment where I was feeling pretty alone I drew this. It certainly isn't perfect, nor is it as incredible as the artistry I've seen on here, but I'm proud of it.

I have to say, I am in love with this book. It's so fabulous. The authors make adorable, crowd pleasing cupcakes so easy!  Here's my very first shot at "cupcake art"

I was just so proud that I had to share! To date every craft I've tried to teach her doesn't interest her. She can do them but usually doesn't finish. She worked for a couple hours last night (and didn't want to go to bed) and then a couple hours today to finish it.

So I love the BBC version of Robin Hood. The UK gets the series way before we do in the USA. Well, I just finished watching the last episode not too long ago. In the last episode, Marian is killed! I couldn't believe it. I felt like I lost someone I knew! (I am a huge dork like that! I felt equally sad when Mark Greene from E.R. died) How can Robin not have his Marian??? So I decided, what better to pay tribute to their love than to make a handkerchief to catch all the tears! (I know I know, I'm pathetic) So here it is. The original pic is on my blog. Be kind I can only do so much with thread and needle! Oh and I'll probably put a border on it and a quote. I just can't seem to decide what to put on it yet. Probably something from their final scene together. So to the few people who feel the way I do, I hope you like it! LOL

I was commissioned by a friend to make a jacket. A civil war "enlisted man's" jacket. I hate it. It is the bain of my existence. I had to redraft from a smock (dress coat) lengthen (because he's like 6'5" or taller!) and alter then heck out of it. Now let me say, I'm a fairly decent seamstress. Not professional, but I can make decent clothing that looks like ready to wear.  Everything that could conceivably go wrong with this jacket has, right down to putting the button holes on the wrong side! I was so tired, and hey I'm a girl so they normally do go on this way!  Anyway, I fixed it as best I could,  so here is the monstrosity!

I searched a bit and while one person had a similar question, it didn't quite match up with mine, so help would be awesome!

And the chart only goes for 15 rows. Then it says to follow the chart until it's the size you want. Well...where do I start the repeats? Do I keep going from row 3 and just repeat across? I have knit both lace and with charts before but for some reason the answer to this one alludes me! Thanks in advance!

Well theoretically anyway. I made this dress in the hopes of wearing it for my anniversary. (in September ) Well I got busy and was unable to finish it up.

I got a couple questions, red shoes or black? (I'm looking for the perfect pair of 50's style closed toe  w/ankle strap) And should I just hem it, or hem with red bias tape and put a layer of tulle under it?

I can figure out most everything because it's so similar to american terms, however there's one I just can't figure out. in the pattern I'm using it says  3ch (1st tr), 1ch, 2tr into same loop (shell) 3 ch, pc, 3 ch. I know what all of it says UNTIL pc. What in the world is this? or is it a typo?

Hi everyone! I have been commissioned to make some things for some friends and their family. They are a part of a civil war reenactment. One of the things they asked for was a crocheted/lined purse to carry their stuff that is obviously not period (phone, chapstick etc.) Can anyone help me find some free patterns. Even if it's a picture (as long as it's not super complicated) I would so appreciate it!
