1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Points system? on: May 08, 2008 06:55:05 AM
I don't understand this "points system" thing. I see people keep making reference to it in swap posts. Am I being slow or is this a new swapping thing?  Huh
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Vintage Swimsuit Help on: April 29, 2008 08:44:13 AM
I need myself a swimsuit. And I've been browsing vintage patterns and a lot of them look really easy to follow. I like the ones like these because they're super cute and give me the coverage on the tops of my thighs which I don't like to expose very much. But I need some idea for what to do with underneath it.

I know it sounds weird but would it be better to have something separate like shorts or say a bikini-like bottom underneath or have it attached to the rest of it. I'm not sure.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Toys for Teething Puppies on: April 30, 2007 04:42:33 PM
I just got a new puppy over the weekend and the poor baby is teething. Does anyone have any suggestions for a toy I could make for him that he could chew on to ease his pain?

Any help would be appreciated!

5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / House M.D. Swap Signups [Signups end January 30th; Sendout date: 2/28/07] on: January 16, 2007 03:08:12 PM

Sign-up date range: 1/16/07 - 1/30/07
Date to send item by: 2/28/07

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): No

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO

All ages allowed? Or 18+?  All ages

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Additional Rules (totally borrowed from Miss Violacious & fyberduck):
1. If this is your first swap please read: (http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. Please bookmark this thread and/or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.
3. I will be giving feedback in the following way:
-  Great Swapper: For those who follow all the rules.
-  Good/poor communication:  Went above and beyond or below and within the call of duty to keep the organizer informed.
-  Sent late/early: Three or more days late or early.
-  No dc number: Failed to comply with the rule about using a delivery confirmation number for packages within your own country.
- Didn't post pictures: failed to post pictures of what they received without an adequate explanation to their partner
- Didn't send within the guidelines of the swap: Didn't send enough items, sent too many store bought items instead of handcrafted, or clearly didn't put in enough effort. Borderline cases won't get this feedback, so if you look at the other galleries and read the guidelines you'll be fine.

4. Lateness is okay, stuff happens, but sending more than a few days late will risk a feedback notation, and not being communicative with myself and your partner will risk a poor communication note.

5. Send unto others as you would have them send unto you. Do some research on your partner. Check post history, signature, and profile links for little details that will help personalize your package. It's like picking out the perfect present for someone, and it's lots of fun!

6. Everyone who is sending a package within the boundaries of their own country is obligated to use a delivery confirmation number. This is for your own protection, and it's Craftster's rule, not mine. If your country makes it prohibitively expensive to use delivery confirmation or tracking, even when sending packages domestically, PM me and get permission not to use it. Otherwise, if you aren't shipping across borders and you don't use one, it will be noted in your feedback. If you are excused from using one, you must save your receipt from the post office.

7. It's a damned good idea to take a picture of your package before you send it.

8. PM me and your partner with your DC number when you send. PM me and your partner when you receive, and thank your partner. Post pictures in the gallery within a reasonable time afterwards.

9. I am a complete and total hardass about posting pictures of what you receive if at all possible. If you don't have a digital camera, you can still join the swap, just make sure your partner knows about the lack of picture taking ability early on, so that they can take all the pictures they want as they go. I've discussed my feelings on the importance of swap package photos here. Swappers who don't post photos and don't sufficiently communicate about not doing so will have that reflected in their feedback.

10. I'll be adding feedback to everyone's profile after each person has sent in their questionnaire and has been checked out.

Details of swap:
This is the swap for the House M.D. watchers, House M.D. lovers and House M.D. fanatics. All people who love Dr. Gregory House, his arrogance and his team of diagnosticians at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. You can dive into the technical things or just tons of fan-girly items to your hearts desire. Don't really like the show and love Hugh Laurie instead? Then, we have places for the Blackadder fans too! Remember, BE CREATIVE! Handmade items are encouraged but a FEW store-bought are alright.

The required items: 1 large, AND 1 medium or 2 small. If you and your partner would like to send more, you can PM me for help or discuss it amongst yourselves.

Ideas for large/medium swap items include: Bags, Quote T-Shirts, Journals, Planners, Boxes/Chests
Small items: Pill Earrings, Bookmarks, Wristbands

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A Polka Dotted Hoodie Extraordinare. on: January 03, 2007 08:50:09 PM
I haven't posted in forever. But anyway, I was on the Wet Seal website last night. I saw this hoodie. $22.50. I bought some polka dotted fabric last week. Had some time today.

The hoodie for Wet Seal:

My hoodie:

I haven't put on the kanga pocket or the band at the bottom yet, but I was just so proud of myself, and blown away on how easy it really was to make. I really like it, and the fabric is so soft and comfy. Should I do the band in white or light blue?

Comments/criticisms/praise. Cheesy

Peace homies! && Happy New Year!
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Send before or after Christmas? on: December 18, 2006 08:35:35 PM
I have a package ready to be sent to Japan, and my mum tells me that during the Christmas rush, the package will probably be rummaged through by more than customs. And I'm worried. I know it will be searched through, but would it make more sense to send after Christmas or would it not make a difference?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Is anyone doing NaNoWriMo? on: November 09, 2006 06:17:51 PM
I'm just seeing if anyone here would be interested. Is anyone here doing NaNoWriMo this year and would be interested in swapping their novels? Or maybe a round robin maybe in order? Sending around the novels in a little group, reading it, reviewing and then sending it to the next person?

Maybe we could make bookmarks for us to read each others novels with? Or maybe design cover art for the book? Or even send NaNoWriMo-inspired things with the little logo man guy with the pencil?

This would be AFTER this month because we all need to finish first! And allow time for us to try to get it printed, so maybe end of December, January or February?
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Evil Doll Costume Help on: October 06, 2006 04:56:22 PM
Hello people! Okay, well, even though Halloween is on a Tuesday this year, I'm going to an early party! So, the costume I really like is one I saw on eBay!

It was dubbed an Evil Doll. Now, I have the hair, makeup, gloves and shoes down, but I need help with the dress.
I have a tulle tutu thing that I could wear underneath it for the fluffiness, but any ideas on how I could construct the dress? I'm sure I have some polka dotted material somewhere, but any ideas for how I could contruct it? Any help will be appreciated!

And of course, pictures of when it is complete will be posted!  Smiley
10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / How do you insert a tension knob back in? on: September 16, 2006 05:15:02 AM
Okay, so, the sewing machine we have at home is used between myself, my mum and my aunt - who is only here during the week. My aunt was stitching away the other night, and I heard that the tension was very loose, but, I was too tired to ask her to slow down or turn up the tension. Next thing I know, the knob itself has come out, and I can't figure how to put it back in. I have no idea where the manual is! Can someone help me? Is there any knob insertion technique? I can take pictures if it will help!
