11  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: *sigh* I too am stymied on a biz name.... help?... please?? on: March 13, 2007 05:34:37 PM
I doubt this is particularly helpful, but I love Elegant Eclectica. If you were to go with your name, I also think J would work better than a whole name. So many businesses are So-and-so's this and What's-her-name's that, and it seems like the names all sort of blend together. Elegant Eclectica isn't one I'd forget. Maybe with By J added. The Sky element is also has a lot of potential, in my opinion.

Good luck with both the name and the business!

Your work is so unique- absolutely inspiring.
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Google's holiday logo is two kangaroos knitting!! on: December 23, 2006 02:27:35 PM
I realized yesterday that Google keeps all its little logo variations on webpages. You can browse them; they're called Google doodles apparently. Smiley
But this one is so cute. I want to know what happens next!
14  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: How 'bout a self-portrait? on: December 15, 2006 07:24:48 PM
Fantastic, especially in such a short time. I wish I had the confidence to work that fast, and the skill to produce such beautiful results.
I too would recommend oils to you. They'd be perfect for this type of art. (oil lets skin be luminous, warm. especially with some final glazes. give it a try!)

I'd also take the hair down, not quite halfway but close to it. You mentioned smoothing shadows: is it your intention to keep some/all of the stylized blockiness? (It is interesting, if so. ) If not, bring some down with a neutral skin tone. (Is this acrylic?)
Oh, and there's a dark curve under the (stage) right eye distracting me. What is that, exactly? Socket, lashes? It seems a bit too strong to me. But it could just be taste.

In any case, you have a visually interesting face so far. Smiley Good luck with your project.
16  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Creating images to silkscreen with multi layers. on: October 08, 2006 07:10:48 AM
To get the man alone: increase brightness/contrast, then reduce to two colors.

To get the circles alone, as suggested: white out the parts where he sticks off the blue then fill him in with blue.

19  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: 15th ... scavanger hunt type birthday party on: August 29, 2006 06:16:02 PM
I've played this game a different way which kind of eliminates the woods part (sorry, I know that's the point haha) but is simpler. These are directions from a quick google.

Who's the Murderer: Good for teens, groups of 5-8 people

One person in the group is chosen to be the Dectective. (Everyone knows who he is) All except the Detective sit in a circle while the Detective waits outside.
One person from the circle is elected to be the Murderer, and then the Detective is called back and sits in the middle of the circle. (Everyone knows who the Murderer is except the Detective.)
When he is ready, the Murderer winks at people in the circle. Anyone who sees that they have been winked at lets out a blood-curdling scream and "dies". The Detective has three attempts to guess who the Murderer is.

Good luck with the birthday and sorry for not really helping. It is a fun game, though. (screaming and fake dying-  always hysterical.)
20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: puffy sleves on: August 18, 2006 06:18:17 PM
I remember this question being asked before- I'd do a search on Craftster. Unless you're talking about tuts here being unclear? I've seen at least one with photos.
