1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / BEST STENCIL EVER, pro-marijuana on: November 03, 2005 04:22:41 PM

(ignore the weird part where the weed leaf and hat tassel thread connect)
turning the myth that all stoners are stupid and lazy on its head.

I came up with it and made it myself. I love it. I want to buy a hemp shirt and stencil it onto that. wouldn't it be awesome?
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / punk rock happiness--mix tape help on: October 20, 2005 05:30:40 PM
I have a friend that wants to get into punk music, and I wanna give her a cool mix. I want to use songs that cheer you up, that make you happy, that you can relax to. just some fun, meaningful, posi stuff, to listen to while we're chilling, if you know what I mean  Wink
off the top of my head, I can think of:
the ramones -sitting in my room/basically anything by them Smiley
the dead boys - sonic reducer
op ivy - sound system

dead milkmen
the clash
the adicts
against me!

can anyone think of some other stuff?
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / anti-flag on: October 08, 2005 01:44:43 PM
if anyone here likes anti-flag, I'm sure that you're aware that they're now on RCA. I wanted to go to their show with bad religion, but tickets cost almost $50 each! diy punk that's about the music, not the money, MY ASS. there are a thouseand more reasons why this band that I loved so much is so dissapointing but I don't wanna start this argument again, so to get to the point...
I want to do a shirt that says 'I liked anti-flag before they sold out", half as a joke, half seriously.what image should I add? I want to do the gun star logo on the side and the text in front, but won't it look stupid, saying that they've sold out and wearing their logo?
I'm thinking a parody of the new kind of army image, with something else on the flag. maybe dollar signs? I'm also thinking "bullets can't silence ideas, but money can." (play on lyrics)
I've been typing while thinking right now, but that sounds REALLY rad.
does anyone have any other ideas that I could use?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / covering collar/lapels of jackets w/ different fabric on: September 27, 2005 04:32:00 PM
I have this really boring crappy demin jacket that I wanna make awesome. I'm gonna put patches and pins on it, possibly studs, and I really wanna make the lapels and collar leopard, because I'm obsessed with leopard print. how do you do it? do you just put the jacket on the fabric, draw the shape onto it, and start sewing it on? also will this be insanely difficult/time consuming, since I don't have a sewing machine.

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / protest pics/kathleen hanna on: September 25, 2005 12:58:04 PM
does anyone have a good picture of a protest/rally? I need one that has a girl with a megaphone in it. preferably, I want it to be people, some with anti-war signs, and then, at the right, a girl talking into a megaphone.

edit: or a picture of kathleen hanna [of le tigre] with a megaphone, standing to the side, talking into it.

please help me out, I have a brilliant idea for a shirt and I can't find the picture that would make it perfect.

::sigh:: now if only there was anyone at my high school to appreciate the awesomeness of my bag. 1 guy, who's probably much older than me. that's it.  Cry living in the fuckin suburbs sucks majorly. believe me, I DON'T fit in here. oh well, that's another discussion for another forum.
there's also more stuff, but I don't have pictures now, so expect another post from me soon  Smiley

so yeah. comments?
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / dead boys stencils PLEASE! on: September 02, 2005 04:35:30 PM
I've been searching everywhere and have wasted all of yesterday trying to make my own, but I can't come up with anything that will justify how much I adore this band. so, can someone help me out, please?!

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / against me or propagandhi fans! on: August 29, 2005 05:45:12 PM
fave lyrics?

I'm making a shirt of each of the bands, and I want to add lyrics, but I can't decide which. both bands kick ass.

it shouldn't be too long, for the sake of simplicity and laziness. if it makes a difference, lyrics will go on the back of a shirt with the band name on the front.

I'm thinking:

[against me]' if that's what it takes then I'll die trying', and a peace sign possibly
'baby, I'm an anarchist!', but I really doubt that my parents and the fascist school admin will like that   Undecided
'You believe in authority.
I believe in myself.'
'I'm a molotov cocktail.
You're Dom Perignon.' ditto for the last 2

[propagandhi]'a song in our hearts and I've never laughed harder. it don't really matter cause nothing's ever felt as right as this.'  long, but I love those lines.
'i do all i can and it's all i can do.'
'if i had the choice, I'd take the voice i got, cause it was hard to find'
'the most pristine are hiding everything'

so... yeah. help me out?
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / bias tape is not my friend. on: August 29, 2005 03:23:39 PM
my second post on the same page of the stitch and botch thread. ::big sigh::  Embarrassed Cry

I was making a pretty tank top out of blue t-shirt fabric, and it all came out great. I was so happy (it's my first time making clothing from scratch). then I thought, hey, wouldn't it be great with black bias tape on the hems? so I go buy some. enter the fact that I forgot how to use bias tape, and don't have a sewing machine. so there I am, in the basement for 2 hours, using iron-on tape to stick the bias tape to the edges of the shirt. it looks, great, but when I go to try it on.... I rip the shirt.

BIAS TAPE DOES NOT STRETCH.

t-shirt knit does.

damn.

10  CANADA / Ontario / awesome tip for crafty toronto/g.t.a. dwellers on: August 09, 2005 05:37:33 PM
okay, this has been my secret for a while, but I decided that I want to share it with you crafty geniuses  Grin

at centerpoint mall on steeles and yonge, there are 2 stores that sell awesome blank shirts. one is called cotton collectibles, and I think the other is crystal fashions (they are right across from each other). they are mainly geared to old ladies, but they have a bunch of awesome, un-lod-lady-ish blank shirts for $4-$5 each!!! baseball-stlye cap sleeved, plain t shirts, tanks, all kinds. it's great  Grin
