Too cute! I always love the thought of custom conversation hearts, and these are cuddly, so they're that much better. Interesting idea to use a mold for needle felting, too. I'll have to remember this project for next V-day.

That is too awesome! I love that song, and I love your pillowcase. I don't think I've ever seen a "tattoo" font filled in with yellow. It looks great.

Thank you.   I expected that yarn to be a nightmare - it's a thick and thin single plied with a loopy novelty single - but I didn't find it bad at all.

My version of the "Urchin" beret from ysolda.com, in size Large since I have a large noggin. I really like the pattern, and it works up quickly (I made this one in an evening). I used 2 skeins of Sean Sheep Wildwood in "Teak Smoke", with a little bit left over. I have to say, I liked it more than I expected. It was easy to work with, and I like the texture (I think it kind of looks like stones). 


I'm hoping that some more blocking will keep it from falling flat on the top.

I was browsing through the yarn aisle at Walmart a couple of days ago when much to my surprise, I stumbled upon a small display of needle felting supplies! (I can't remember the last time I went to Walmart, so I don't know how long they've carried this stuff.) They were selling a small kit with needles, a piece of foam, a paper template of a flower, and some instructions. Plus small packages of roving, with 2 similar colours per pack (almost enough to fill a juice glass, for around $3.00 Canadian).  They also had pre-made flower brooches and handbags on the same display, made to look like they've been needle felted by hand.

I can't say I fell in love with the products themselves. I do, however, like the thought of making felting supplies more accessible to people who'd like to try needle felting for the first time. I know there's nowhere else around here that sells them, and buying online can feel overwhelming. I wouldn't buy all my supplies there, but I definitely would have bought my first starter kit, if they had been available at the time. It seems like an unlikely place, but keep your eyes peeled at Wal-Mart if you're having trouble finding needles and roving.
