I've had this on my "to-do" list for years, I think. I've been keeping my clothespins in a cute little drawstring bag, which is a pain in the butt for actually hanging out clothes or taking them in. Since I don't expect to be growing a 3rd or 4th arm anytime soon, I whipped this up. I based this on some pictures of vintage aprons I've seen online.


I think it really only needed to be half as wide as I made it.
I felt like it needed a little something extra, and I thought the horseshoes kind of went well with the gingham. They're from Sublime Stitching's "Country Cool" transfer set.

I stitched this up for my fella, who loves everything and anything with devils on it. It's the smaller face from Sublime Stitching's "El Diablo" pattern set. I wouldn't normally do just a lighter outline on such a dark colour, but I think it looks ok, and it really makes the eyes pop. I wanted to keep it fast and simple because it's a pillowcase, so it's going to get slept on, sat on, and washed a million times, so it's not exactly going to be an heirloom. I used split stitch, back stitch, and satin stitch. Worked up in about 2 hours, and it's far from perfect. I didn't realise when I bought the pillowcase that it had such a narrow space outside the stitching, and that's where I had planned to embroider, so I picked out the stitches and secured the ends.

The colour looks a little orangey here, but it's a true lipstick red.

I actually started this in February. Crocheted all the pieces, sewed a couple of them together, and left it in my knitting basket until a couple of nights ago, when I finally sat down to finish assembling and stuffing it. The pattern is from Pepperberry on Etsy. Loved the pattern, and I love the finished product. I made the larger size provided, and used plain old Red Heart Super Saver, which I think is what the pattern called for. I made it for my fella, so I know a throw pillow isn't on the Top 10 list of guy gifts, but I'm hoping he'll like it just because it's a red and black nautical star.

You can see the stuffing in 1 or 2 places.


I snapped 1 in-progress pic. Nothing exciting.


Overall, I think it turned out pretty cute, and I'll definitely be making more.

I dusted off my felting needles today (it's been far too long!) and this is what I made.





I've been meaning to make a larger, more detailed version of some shrunken heads I made awhile back. I used a foam ball for the core, to save wool. I think it made it a little sturdier too. Then I built up his eyelids, nose, lips, and especially his chin with layers of roving. I sacrificed sturdiness for texture with his hair, as the top layer isn't felted at all, except to secure it at both ends of the fibers. I think it looks better, but it could probably get messed up easily. I'm looking for some string to give him some stitches in his eyelids and lips, I don't have any that's the right thickness. I keep giggling every time I look at him, and I'm completely jealous of his hair.

My version of the "Urchin" beret from ysolda.com, in size Large since I have a large noggin. I really like the pattern, and it works up quickly (I made this one in an evening). I used 2 skeins of Sean Sheep Wildwood in "Teak Smoke", with a little bit left over. I have to say, I liked it more than I expected. It was easy to work with, and I like the texture (I think it kind of looks like stones). 


I'm hoping that some more blocking will keep it from falling flat on the top.

I've gotten mighty bored with making plain bobbins for my embroidery thread, so today I started making these. I think they're much cuter, even if they do take up a wee bit more space.



As you can see, it took a couple of tries to settle on a shape and size. I quickly got tired of drawing them individually, but I'm definitely planning on making more once I get my scanner and printer back online.

I made these for the 50's B-Movie Swap. There are so many great B-movie posters, it was hard to choose which ones to use. I didn't want to completely overdo it on the movie posters, so I added a scene from "Creature From the Black Lagoon". The "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" poster has red glitter in the layer behind it. The other two have black and silver glitter mixed together. (Sorry, I know the pics are not great.) I had another one cast that would have become a ring, but somehow a bunch of the glitter from the second layer bled/shifted to the bottom of the mold (the front of the image). Still not sure how that happened.


Plus some more I poured at the same time that were more generally horror-themed. The earrings are a little hard to see, the have black tombstones, like the ones in the pendant.


I made a beaded necklace and bracelet to go with them. It was really hard to find chunky plastic beads, but I finally found some on Etsy. As you may have noticed, I attached lobster clasps to the pendants so that they can easily be changed around on the beaded necklace without messing with jump rings and pliers.

I was the lucky recipient. I hope mamaedgar doesn't mind if I take the liberty of posting and "action shot".

I made this for my partner in the 50's B-Movie Swap. She received her package today, so I figured it's finally safe to post.


The image is based on one from a set of tattoo flash. My camera didn't pick it up very well, but her skin is a pale bluish-green with some shading around the clavicles, nose, etc. I used crayons to tint the lighter parts (that's all the rage these days, huh?), and marker for some of the darker stuff like her hair. Everything is done in backstitch, except her eyes, which are done in split stitch and her lips, in satin stitch. I searched for weeks for an oval-shaped frame, and finally found one that was the perfect size. I kind of dig how her eyes wound up looking bruised and bloodshot.
