I have several pairs of pants I'm looking at chaning similarly. My idea is to cut up the side of each pant leg, but keeping an inch or so in addition to the waistband intact. Then taking a long, wide-based triangle of fabric and sowing into the leg. So I won't have bellbottoms, but more like pants-gone skirt look.

Aww, that's really cute. Good idea for little ones, taking a lady skirt and adding straps!
