11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Throw Pillow Swap on: October 10, 2007 05:08:46 AM
We could see how creative we can get on a 12x12 or 16x16 throw pillow, they could reflect our skills and include some interests that the swap partner has.

It may sound silly now that I type it out  Roll Eyes would anyone else be interested?

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: February Baby Sweater Questions on: October 06, 2007 07:55:09 AM
sorry, I guess I assumed people knew,  Embarrassed it's from elizabeth zimmerman's knitter's almanac.
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / February Baby Sweater from Knitter's Almanac Questions on: October 06, 2007 07:08:44 AM
I'm knitting the baby sweater for a cousin and after reading the "pattern" I had a few questions, mostly to seek the opinion of some other knitters

1. When doing the increase rows, do you count those seperately and then do another 4 ridges or do you count them in the 4 ridges?

2. When did you begin the button holes? I looked at the final product of the sweater and saw that there are infact 6 buttons and only instructions for 4 holes, this i will probably finagle with and start a bit earlier on, say after the first four ridges. but that's not for certain yet.

3. has anyone knit this completely seamlessly? I figure it could be done, i havent tested out the pattern to check.

That's all I have for now Cheesy I'm just curious, i know Elizabeth Zimmerman sets this up as more of a touch and go and decide for yourself type of pattern, I'm probably over thinking things.

I meant double decreases, it also says on this site:

Okay, so by "ridges" she means the ridges created by knitting two rows of garter stitch. So when she says "5 ridges", she really means ten rows in total. As for the "end pieces," it helps to think of the thing you're knitting in three parts. There are the two short bits on each end and then a big bit in the middle. Your decreases (and stitch markers, if you're using them) are the dividing points. So you could rewrite that first troublesome line as:
After 10 rows, (K3,M1) nine times, knit til your decrease point, do your decrease, knit across the center section as normal, do your decrease, knit til there are 27 stitches left, then (M1,K3) nine times to the end.

Does that make sense? So you're still doing your decreases as normal through this; you're just adding in a single row of increases on those two end bits.

it never says not to do the double decreases, and after studying the book i never saw anywhere that meg says to stop doing the decreases nor does elizabeth zimmerman

OMG I've found the greatest thing since sliced bread.
http://www.3gcs.com/adcock/free%20patterns/BSS%20Notes.htm

Helpful, but not perfect.  I kept wondering why my numbers differed, then I went over it.

The sides' numbers, as far as I've gotten, are correct, but beginning from Row 11, the center section is wrong.  There is no decrease in that row; it should be 78, and every center section number after that is off. Sad  If it helps, row 11's st count should be 156 and the 90 st count row should end with 21 & 46, not counting dec sts, which means all the row #s and stitch counts are off after row 43. Sad

you do the decrease in that row aswell, ez assumes that you know to keep doing them
