1  My new girlie dress. I feel like a movie star...Imagy heavy in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by bella_violet on: June 19, 2007 09:54:02 AM
I used pattern Simplicity 4265 and modified it as follows:  shortened hem about 6 inches, and added a eyelet lace hem.  Shortened the bodice and took in side tucks in the whole torso area to prevent this floofing effect that vintage shapes tend to create in my midsection....
Here are about 100 photos LOL

Oh yea, I made it starting at 9:30pm on Sunday because I decided I needed a new dress to wear on Monday morning to work  Cheesy

Look, me in a dress!

"Hi, I'm blurry"

"But when you look closely, I'm really not"

"And if you look even closer, I'm even less blurry!"

"If you look up, you'll see my awesome headband"

"And if you look down, you'll get an eyeful of my rad shoes"

"Oh, and for the record, this is what you get if you don't have a timer on your camera...and you resort to using a glass, turtle shaped swizzle stick to attempt to depress your shutter release.  You get a weird bulgy  thing trying to jump free of your arm.  Awesome."

And finally, my favorite shot!

2  Dress I made a few years ago for a friend's daughter... in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by bella_violet on: February 26, 2007 12:04:11 PM
The green is a grass green cotton with tiny little white polka dots...and the edging is white with little tiny cherries...

I secretly wanted to make this thing fit me...but alas, I only had so much fabric...

Enjoy!

3  The vile quilt I made for my Mother-In-Law! (oopsie..please move to quilt board) in Quilting: Completed Projects by bella_violet on: February 07, 2006 06:16:17 AM
I swear, this was the WORST quilt book EVER...it took like 30 some pages to explain how to do the 9-patch!!!!  Shocked

After the first 20 some pages, my mom and I gave up and were just winging it cuz the book was that dumb...we sort of want to burn the book now  Grin

that one is so amazing. all of them are. i can't take it. i miss my photography class. i love it so much.

with this one, was it done in photoshop or did you make it in the darkroom. and if you made it in the darkroom, did you just put the image with the hand over the other for just a couple seconds?

i'm so jealous. i wish i wasn't so broke right now..  Undecided

It was done in camera...it's double exposure  Wink

8  Re: Who is your favourite artist? in More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions by bella_violet on: August 17, 2005 08:37:32 AM
Oooh, Sally Mann!!!

I can't tell what I love more, her work or the art -vs- kiddie porn debate that instantly goes along with her work.  I'm a big fan of debate when it comes to art anyway, but her photographs are just so beautiful...just not for the weak of heart.

Yea, that whole debate thing just ruffles my feathers lol

I have a tendancy to get REALLY defensive about that...I don't see her work as ANYTHING even RESEMBLING porn...and sooooo many people I know think she is an absolute sicko...

Let's put it this way...I did a tribute photograph of night blooming cirus...called Calla Lily...and hung it in my office...and a woman I work with called it risque, and pornographic and asked me to take it down...Let's just say, I took it down...but was LIVID...

anyway, that was sort of random lol...but here's the picture...
