1  Pirate Princess costume (for a 7 yr old girl) in Halloween Costumes by appleshannon on: October 12, 2013 10:12:44 PM
**EDIT*
Well guys, she won first in her age group, ice cream coupons and a pumpkin, the costume got there an hour before the contest. it was a little big, i was afraid of that, but were very happy <3

My best friend asked me to make her 7 yr old daughter a "Pirate Princess costume" .. I hope it's pirate-y and princess-y enough for them Smiley
the hat is felt, (Tutorial from thread bangers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvopk72Bx3Y ) with feathers, a big brown bow, real shell, a ship charm, and a head scarf. The Shirt is dark maroon ..synthetic..silk?satin?? with ruffled chest.  sleeves can be worn up or down, (costume required sleeves for school.) The "corset" is fake leather, and has gold and red trim with red laces, I made her a fake leather belt
and a genuine leather belt bag (Originally posted here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=426728.msg5082483#msg5082483 )
charm key chain, and matching bracelet. Buckle-printed tights are from a dollar store, and the skirt is yards of different colored tulle and ribbons on elastic. she is entering it into a contest.. so let's hope for the best!
I am sending it across country tomorrow, and when she takes pics I will share them!! Thanks for lookin' Smiley

2  Leather Hippie Bags, Roses and Key chains in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by appleshannon on: August 18, 2013 12:21:52 AM
I've gotten addicted to leather recently. It's to the point that I'm buying a bag of scrap leather a day because I work next door to Hobby Lobby Tongue They started carrying some pretty amazing gold leafed and gold snake skins, so I'm stocking up on some treasures! I made the pattern myself. Everything is hand sewn!
I made this dark turquoise one this week for my mother, I did some nicer detailing in it.

The brown one I made first, it was my practice. It has 'D' rings for adding a purse strap to, and a large belt loop in back.

I made the periwinkle one second.

I still haven't tried stamp work. I'm just doing some beading so far. This is another small bag I made, it has some felt detailing and crochet flower.

I also made roses and suede/feather/charm key chains for the bags

thanks for checkin em out Smiley <3

5  Monster High Clothes&Accessories*updated!* in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by appleshannon on: April 25, 2013 09:12:28 PM
*update! adding more pics daily with progress!!*

So I didn't really like these dolls, until I found out they where so highly respected in the doll community. I checked out a few at eBay & my local stores, I fell in love!! The articulation and customization blew me away! I bought 3 dolls to keep original (Ghouls Alive Frankie is sooo cool! And Skelita, and the Ghoulia with her scooter!) I am currently trying to customize two 'create-a-monster dolls, and tons of random heads and limbs, tho I am having trouble with the faces.. I tried sealers, pastels, acrylics, water color pencils, ect, but nothing seems to work right for me. any suggestions?!? I'm still doing tons of research. I can't wait to make some wigs, and eventually re-root hair! This will be a huge project for me but I am very excited! So while I'm waiting for the right faces, I'm working on a few clothing items.. I hope you enjoy them, these are all hand sewn.
sorry these pics are so small. for skelita I made this Spanish  red rose "dress", it is actually separates, a top, skirt and shoulder ruffle that can be worn on 1 shoulder/both, or not at all. Black felt hat has a tiny mesh veil with tiny fabric flowers, hand made.

the Spanish skull hair comb from polymer, and the veil is lace, the skirt is fabric marker on velvet baroque fabric, felt handbag, and beaded bracelets, the top and shoes are monster high.

I want to make this girl a Japanese Lolita girl! I made the beanie, skirts, petticoat, backpack, ruffle blouse and beaded bracelets, and painted her nails.

yarn wigs, hair fancies, polymer clay charms, collars, ect!

And some random skirts, Victorian skirt can be synched, hats with snaps underneath, purses, bows, ribbons, beanies & Lolita accessories :

I also have a purple fishy girl with fins that my boyfriend wants me to turn into a WaveDancer from Elf quest! Can't wait to start on her!

kanekalon hair wig, beaded crowns, shell embellishments, can't wait to make clothes for her!

I made a tiny replica of the backpack I got @ SoulFlower.com

6  TONS of T-shirt Dresses! *pic heavy* in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by appleshannon on: April 25, 2013 04:29:20 PM
*THANKS for making this a featured project!!*
I made all of these over the past 3 years. Most of these are thrift store XL shirts.
All are completely hand sewn! almost all have pockets!

O.K. so here's the Jelly fish dress, made out of 2 thrifted jellyfish shirts

I made this dress from a thrifted shirt, I did some ribbed detail on the front, and added a doily to the back, and gave it a pocket.

This dress was made from a StarWars shirt I got at Disneyland!!! I made the hood and sinched skirt part from another thrifted grey shirt. this is a great fall/winter dress! It has a small pocket with the rebel alliance logo.

This dress is made from a Frankenstien shirt from WalMart. I installed all the snaps down the back, tie, black studs, and added a pocket made form the neckline.

Here's the Glow skull dress! It's made of tons of thrifted black shirts, most of the pieces on this dress glow-in-the-dark, but I found it impossible to get pictures of it in action!  this dress has some Adult themes "spawn 'till you die".. I also hand-studded some diamonds onto the skulls to give them Monroe piercings!this dress has a pocket.

This is the Skull/Bones dress, its made of a thrifted shirt that had different skulls on the front and back, I made the top (bust) out of a sleeve of the shirt, and added the corset buckles and studs to the front and back!

Here's My "Punk Lace" dress, I did the lace back and cut-outs by hand. Dress has a pocket.

Leo DaVinci dress, made this for the Renaissance fair! from a thrifted shirt, it has a pocket on 1 of the flower petal skirt pieces.

And finnaly, this corset is just made form XXL shirt sleeves, you can tell by the way they are cut, I put in some cable ties for boning, and the "ribbon" is made from a shirt as well.. It actually works very well!

In case you cant see the details, here's a better pic.

('true life secrets' shirt reads "And just what must I do to get those?!")

by the way, designer Angela Johnson sells these for hundreds of dollars!?

anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LOOKING! <3

7  Alice Golden Book Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by appleshannon on: April 07, 2013 01:13:57 AM
(Alice has kinda become a theme for Me)

I actually made these trinket boxes first, from the pages of this book:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=421773.0;topicseen#axzz2PlLyeV9B

I got the book for $3 and the fabric for $1.50, I liked it because it looked like writing paper and the floral I originally picked out was horrible. The letter beads where bought for around $5 and I made colored beads from polymer clay. The handles read "Alice In Wonderland" and "A Merry Unbirthday"..Because they needed to be about the same number of beads. I think the golden spine is cute.

I used this tutorial for the Purse,
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Book-Purse
I bent a wire hanger for the handles and I'd like to ad a pocket.

*EDIT* *see what I did with the book cover here*
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=422402.msg5013763#msg5013763

I bought these wooden boxes,
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Plaid-Hinged-3-Piece-Box-Set-with-Tray/22086201?adid=1500000000000037938180
and an Alice Goldenbook, totaling under $10, modpodged book pages and decorated with random Alice things I have... (I made the mushroom and rose out of polymer, too bad the mushroom looks like a clown nose, I spent some time working on the inner ribs of it!)
the story goes in order. I used too much colored glitter, but it doesn't show up well in photos.

9  DreamCatcher in Completed Projects by appleshannon on: March 12, 2013 11:19:56 PM
I was about 10 in My previous attempt at making one of these.
supplies:sewing hoop (Walmart doesn't have those big wire rings!?)
sparkle silver yarn, I strung beads onto the twine before webbing, originally I had made this with a deep blue twine, but it snapped after I finished! Now it has maroon twine web,
1Hr and $5 later..it looked too plain, so I wrapped around my peacock necklace and earrings and a leather cord headband I made a few years ago
