1  For a summer day w/ sketches and finished garments(lots of pictures) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by candikaneiscrafty on: June 16, 2008 03:40:03 PM
So i was able to take some pictures today of my most recent projects granted they are modeled on a dress form that is not my size but it is the best i can do for now since i dont have anyone to take my picture until next week. I decided to water mark the pictures of the dresses since they are my designs and will be going in a portfolio i thought it was the best idea.
so to start in chronological order:
Principle of Fit Final
imagine these on a human

so this dress was designed as a final project for my class where the garment had to fit us. i used a polyester textured chiffon and a black lace. I made a slip for underneath in purple but forgot to stay stitch so it bagged out really bad and now it fits funny. so as a warning to everyone STAY STITCH anything cut on the bias. the dress is meant to be belted and it slips on over my head
#2
A-Line skirt

So this is just a basic a line made out of a vintage fabric looks much better on

Last but not least
Tea Dress
i was thinking about tea parties when i named this one and i think the fabric fits

This one by far is my favorite. I bought the flower fabric a few months ago to make a dress and just got around to it. i love how it turned out and looks much better on me since it was made to fit me not the form. it is very springy and fun to wear. i am so happy i found a matching purple for the waist band and bodice lining. it has a centered zipper down the back and has a rolled hem.

Thank You for looking!

3  A Mushroom, owl, a boat and a leaf! lots of pictures! in Needlework: Completed Projects by candikaneiscrafty on: June 07, 2008 04:07:39 PM
I have been embroidering a lot lately and these are a few of my most recent projects

so first up a towel for my grandma i am making her a set of towels to go with her kitchen for her 80th birthday.

next up my just finished patch work owl. to make him i used some random scraps i had around and embroidered him to a foresty fabric i bought and sew on interfacing for strength. i like how he turned out but i don't know what to do with it i am thinking  either a pouch or a brooch deal... i am not sure any opinions would be great!

Now on to the boat patch. i made this for my friend but i plan on doing more of a similar idea but nicer. i pretty much free handed this i just drew a basic outline of everything.

Last but not least the little leaf
this is about 2x3 and is on silk dupioni self lined and interfaced to keep the stitching secure. this is another one i don't know what to do with i am thinking a pin or as a necklace.. any opinions on fabric pendents? (in real life it is much more shiny and less textured and of a darker green)

thanks for looking and any suggestions!

4  embroidered patches pricing questions in Get Product and Website Opinions by candikaneiscrafty on: June 05, 2008 05:15:32 PM
So i started to make patches out of muslin (basic cotton fabric) that i have embroidered with different designs such as this one:

and i was thinking about selling them. i was wondering if $8 - $10 depending on the time taken for each one seems like a reasonable price.
Thank you!

5  Super duper knit tshirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by candikaneiscrafty on: May 31, 2008 02:45:22 PM
So for my intro to knit wear class for extra credit we could make a shirt out of a more unstable knit and this is what i came up with.

the fabric is a thin knit that is slightly see through hence the blue shirt.
i patterned this design my self.

so what do you think?

So a week of procrastination and 3 hours or so of knitting later i give you the Espionage Beret! (i figured i would call it that since next week is my friend's birthday and we are all going to dress like spy's or something like that)

Yarn: one skein of wool ease chunky in eggplant
Needles: US11 and US 13
Mods: i just winged the decreases at the top because i did not have the pattern available.
