I have tried to keep the expense to a minimum on new projects by trying to use things that I can find at thrft shops, that I have laying around being useless, or things that are terribly on sale. I won't buy normal priced things for a craft that I am just learning or my first time through a project unless I absolutely have to.I'll take apart old necklaces for beads, make a first run on an apron with an old sheet instead of new beautiful fabric...etc... But I'm just cheap.
I made a bag from a wool striped structure sweater this weekend. I'm hooked. Everyone is getting these for Christmas. It took less than an hour to put together and I have been getting compliments like crazy on it already. So much bang for your crafting buck!! Thank you guys for this project.
