1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Need baby clothes quilt opinion - Picture of layout included on: January 23, 2009 06:03:14 PM
Ok so here's my thrown together layout of the quilt I'm making out of my son's baby clothes. (Sorry for the tilted picture...the layout is 4' by 6' and that's the most straight on I could get).

Anyway, you can see the stripes of just blue and just green going diaganal, and I'm wondeirng if I should add in bright yellow and red squares so one diaganal stripe is blue-red-blue-red, and the other is yellow-green-yellow-green?  It would make for more bright colors.

On the other hand, I could just make this quilt as a mostly blue/green quilt.  Does that look too washed out?

A third option would be to do a 1 inch border in red, and then the 3" fuzzy blue border I was going to do, and then a satin binding in green.

Any opinions?  What would you do?

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First two quilts - Red/white lap quilt, Green/Purple log cabin retro baby quilt on: July 27, 2006 07:19:47 PM
This was my first quilt.  It's a simple lap quilt made with 6" squares to match my living room.

This...much harder quilt was my second quilt.
I made it for my friend who kinda likes retro patters, so I thought all the geometric shapes would be fun.  I was going for a twilight zone look putting the "neverending squares" in the middle of the log cabin.
I just quilted in the ditch to keep it simple for me.

(ignore the little sewing mishap on this block...I'm going it fix it before I give it to her).
3  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / ONGOING WISH LIST ROUND 7 fulfilled - you guys rock on: November 16, 2005 12:03:55 PM
Hi all

It looks like I'm going to need 7 angels as of now (may be a few more, we will see) (3% flake on my swap)
I've asked everyone for their original item that got flaked on and a list of substitutes they wouldn't mind getting (aka more wishes) and I've gotten a few back - so here they are - I will post updated lists.

PLEASE PM ME IF YOU CAN FULFILL A WISH! THANKS SO MUCH

This swap style is new to this board so read carefully.
The first person puts a list together of all the things they could imagine wanting that they cant make. YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY ITEMS ON YOUR WISH LIST AS YOU WANT, HOWEVER YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF FOUR.

Then people will read your list, and see if they see something they want to/can make on there.  Then they reply to the thread and say I claim Suzie and Im going to make her a pink scarf or something artsy or whichever wish you are fulfilling.  I will send you all of Suzies information.

THEN COMES THE NEXT FUN PART FOR YOU.  YOU POST YOUR LIST OF WISH ITEMS YOU WANT.
Then someone picks you and fulfills ONE of your wishes.
Then they post their list, and so on.

This is what I like to call the Swap that Never Ends until I get sick out of my mind of running it. I would pick someone to make something for.

Now if the thread gets in a rut for a few days, the person who made the last wish should add to their list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them.

YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO GET YOUR ITEM OUT THE DOOR.  Please be communicative if you are having any issues.

You can participate as many times as you want but no person can owe more than 3 things at a time.  I just dont want anyone to get overwhelmed.

PLEASE LIST YOUR COUNTRY so people know if they have to ship outside their country to get to you!

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND I CAN ANSWER AND MODIFY THIS INFORMATION

LETS TRY TO KEEP THIS THREAD WISHES AND REPLIES ONLY!!! THANKS!

******

HERE I WILL KEEP A LIST OF THE ORDER OF SWAPPERS:
Blue means you have shipped,
purple means you have received,
green means you have done both,
red means you need to communicate/are late.

People pre-approved to participate in this swap - If you have a number next to your name that means you owe that many wishes (updated every 72 hours at the least) - LIMIT of 3! - help me by not having more than 3 outstanding wishes at a time please!:

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Audrey Hepburn and Amalie on: September 19, 2005 06:39:46 PM
I made these for my best friend for a birthday present - wasn't going ot share until I added the studded "A" to the Audrey shirt. It works best because my friend's name just happens to start with an A.  WOOHOO!

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ongoing wish list swap idea on: September 12, 2005 10:00:17 AM
Hey everyone,

I'm kinda new here but not to swapping in general (just completed first swap here)

Anyway in other scrapbooking swap boards they ALWAYS have an ongoing wish list swap.
This is very much like the unconditional swap except

The first person posts a wish list of as many possible things as they could think of that they would want (with minimum three)
IE:
I would like:
some kind of jewelry
a knit scarf
a collage book
a purse
etc.

THE NEXT PERSON picks one of their things to make and send to them and then that person posts their list

Then someone picks something on their list to send and then posts their own list and so on and so on on

so basically you have to agree to fulfill a wish before you get your wish fulfilled.
And whoever feels like being the next person just has to claim the previous crafter first in the thread...and it goes on forever like that.

What do you guys think?
Do you understand this?  It's actually pretty easy to do.

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first purse - Polka dots and red handles! on: September 07, 2005 06:35:10 AM
I picked up a purse pattern for 99 cents and made this:

I'm kinda loving it.  At first I was wondering who the heck I would give it to, but I might just keep it.

This is the inside.  The two tabs are held together with a magnetic snap...which I would actually place in their differently if I did it again.  And there's a little pocket. ohhh pockets!
