201  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / EYELETS - help on: July 22, 2005 05:49:00 AM
I'm making my first corset and I need to add eyelets.

The lady told me I could use my scrapbook eyelet pounder and what not.  I'm fairly confident that will work, but has anyone done it.

ALSO, how big should I make the holes in the fabric/are there any tricks you know - or know where you could point me?

Thanks!

That looks great

and as someone who used to work retail and see people come in all the time with white shirts over white bras (AND I DONT CARE HOW THICK THEY THINK THE FABRIC IS I CAN STILL SEE THEIR BRA)

get a flesh toned bra! TRUST ME! best investment in clothing ever!
204  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sexy Haltertop dress on: July 16, 2005 07:52:27 PM
Hey i just finished this dress, which is the first dress I've made since I made a dress in my "learn how to sew class" so I went into it kinda assuming it wouldn't turn out, and now I'm loving it!

I made it with clearance satinfinished fabric at Joann's 2.20 a yard for 3 yards.  ( That's 6.60)
I used Simplicity pattern 4998

Iit actually does good for my figure...but my figure loosing 5 lbs would make the dress perfect.

205  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Supergirl Costume on: July 14, 2005 12:00:33 PM
Thanks all for the compliments, I feel loved!

And yes I made boots using a pair of payless shoes and PVC Vinyl.  MMMM Vinyl boots.

It's great for me because since I'm a bit *cough* chubbier, I have very wild calves and can never find boots to fit, also it impressed the costuming judges immensly.

I have to make another pair in hot pink vinyl for a different costume, and will make a Tutorial for it.  They are actually a very big pain in the ass as a warning...but they only take about 3-4 hours to do...and you can customize any costume.

Anyway - probably in the next month (after I move) I will make the pink ones and do the tutorial - if anyone is interested in it.
206  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Supergirl Costume on: July 14, 2005 09:59:03 AM
This is actually my first post - but I wanted to share something I made, even though it was a costume.  I created it for a Science Fiction Convention (from scratch) on july 4th weekend.  I did not do the superboy costume, I just ran into him and wanted a picture.
However I did make the boots, shirt, cape, vinyl skirt, etc.
Please be nice! Smiley
