1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Anyone have any ideas for my bathroom!? :D on: June 27, 2007 07:48:30 AM
Howdy everyone! Cheesy I recently moved into a new apartment with my newlywed hubby, and I just cannot STAND this plain, icky apartment that we have! >_<;; I'm sure some of you have been in the same boat as me, so, I hope that someone can offer me a bit of advice.

I plan to make the entire apartment spectacular, in time, but I'm going to start with the bathroom first!

Now. There's a little problem that I've run into with this bathroom. The sink, tub, and floor are all fairly unattractive at the moment. I think with a bit of craftiness and elbow grease, however, that I can make it just dandy. ^^

Since it's an apartment, I can't do much in terms of painting or re-tiling/carpeting...sooo, I have to work with what I have! I'm just at this road block where I can't think of a theme to match the elements that I cannot change.

I do not have a digital camera, so, I'll have to explain a bit about the  bathroom. It's tiny, first of all. :p Haha.

A) The sink counter is this light sage green, "marble" color. Yay for fake marble! The sink itself is just solid, sage green.

B) The tub is the same color as the sink.

C) The walls around the tub and shower area are a slightly darker sage green, but have splotches of white in them, and are in a tile format.

D) The floor is a fairly cheap sort of "tile" flooring. It's in large squares. The colors in each square are a forest green "marble" sort of thing, and dark/light red. It's a little strange. o.o

E) Something that I found while looking closely at the toilet and sink counter cabinet is that they both appear to be white, but are actually the faded sage green color >.>;.

F) So, the main colors in my bathroom are: white, sage green, reds.

G) Oh! The walls are white...of course.

I'm basically just looking for ideas on the theme here, so, if anyone has any ideas, I'm up for anything! Shocked Thanks!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Help a broke sister out! :D on: February 01, 2006 10:24:06 AM
Hiya, girls. I know that this sort of thing has been posted about a dozen times lately, but, I'd really like to get some feedback from ya'll!

I am incredibly poor at the moment. I make it a rule for myself to never buy anything for myself {except food and paying the bills and all that jazz}. If I buy something, it's for my boyfriend. Smiley I love him with all my heart and cannot wait until the day that we can get married! College is in the way of that right now, however. >.> Anyways, my big thing is wanting to be all kinds of crafty and make him a few things.

I'll tell ya a bit about us, because that might hellp. Smiley

My name is Erin, his is Eric. We have been together for exactly 1 year and 8 months. He currently goes to college three hours away from me. We, however, plan to get an apartment after he graduates this spring! Neither of us are the most outgoing people in the world. We are pretty quirky and strange, but it's all in good fun!  Cheesy

And, YES, I know that I should just cuddle and love him and be with him and not have to worry about getting him anything, BUT, I want to do something! Tongue

So! Here are a few of his interests:

He is in LOVE with turtles. He adores them. ^_^
He is a computer dork.
He loves playing video games such as World of Warcraft {I do as well, btw Smiley}. www.worldofwarcraft .com
He is a senior in college, majoring in math.
He likes Kevin Spacey movies...his favorite being "American Beauty."
He likes Futurama and Scrubs.

Now, for my list of abilites...:

-I can sew and crochet. More so on the sewing...I'd have to brush up on the crocheting thing.
-I love scrapbooking. Thing is, I already have a scrapbook that I am working on for me and him.
-I don't have any power-tools or anything like that. I'd love to get some, but, alas, I live in a tiny apartment.
-Honestly, I am up for anything under the sun as long as it does not cut too hardcore into my budget. The idea here, however, is to create really thoughtful, awesome things for cheap-ish.   Embarrassed

SO! Does anyone have any ideas for me? I've noticed that you've all been on a duct-tape creating craze. Eric and I made a wallet together over the summer and I don't want to make roses. ^_^

By the way, I am planning on making dinner with him...so, that thought has already crossed my mind! I will post what food I plan to make after I figure that part out Cheesy.

Edit: I found what I plan to make for dinner. I think I want to use angel hair pasta or a spagetthi pasta instead of bow-ties, however. What do you think?

Also, I plan to pan-fry chicken breasts in olive oil and add some of the tomato and pine nuts to it.

Thank you SO much in advance for all of your help!!
3  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / In the aid of animals... on: January 18, 2006 09:34:57 AM
Howdy everyone.

I have had this idea ever since I first started college to found an organization at my university to aid various animal shelters in my area. The thing is, I am much to busy to actually sit down, have meetings and all that jazz. It hurts me that I cannot do this, however, I realized today that there is still hope for my cause.

I plan to make various crafts--most of which dealing with animals, to be honest--and sell them online. ALL proceeds will go to animal shelters in my area.

I was wondering if there was anyone else that would like to join in me in doing this. I would love to have a few crafts made by you talented craftsters! Cheesy The craft does not have to deal with animals in any way...just something that that would be desireable to buy!

If you would like to, you can send actual items that animal shelters are in need of, as well. Things like toys, perhaps? Smiley Most shelters have a listing of items that you can donate.

I live in the Lock Haven, PA area. Any shelters within a 45 mile driving distance, I would be open to donate to. If you have a shelter in your area that is in great need of donations and wish to help out, please do let me know. I'm not looking for any sort of recognition here...I just want to help the animals. ^_^

I have a great love for all animals and would simply love to do something to help those that never had a chance in life.

So, who's with me? ^_~ Just send me a PM if so. I plan to design a website in the near future with various information. If you have any questions or concerns, just reply to the post or PM me.

I'll be looking forward to hearing from you!!

Much love,

Erin

5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Oh, what to do with this cardboard... on: July 20, 2005 07:59:26 AM
Heyhey, fellow craftsters. I am at a dilemma. When I was working the other night {I'm an overnight stocker at Wal-mart}, I came across these strange, yet uber, cardboard pieces in one of the boxes that was obviously used for packaging the item. Here a few pictures of them:

As you can see, there are four of them. If you cannot tell from the pictures, they are rather sturdy. They're not your usual cardboard.

I was thinking of making a mini-decorative table with them, but didn't know what I could attach the "legs" to the non-existent top. Then throw a cute table-cloth and a candle on it.

The "legs" could hold quite a bit, really.

Anyways, I just thought that I'd see what ideas you guys have. Any input would be very appreciated! Thanks alot!!
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / rather silly question, i thinks on: July 20, 2005 07:40:43 AM
I'm very new to craftster and being an intense crafster. Smiley I just recently found out what the heck modge podge and that decoupage stuff was. Sorry that I sound so ignorant. Undecided

I was just wondering if anyone could please give me a brief insight to what the two are normally used for, and what not to use them on, lol. I bought Modge Podge to seal some pictures I plan to make into coasters. And, I just thought that I should have a better idea as to what I'm doing before I make a giant mess. Thanks!! ^_^
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Essential Oils Question on: July 12, 2005 05:06:08 AM
Hi, everyone. I'm new here and figured I'd make my first post. ^_^

Anyways, I've been getting these crazy urges to make some various bath products. My only problem is that I'm not sure where I can buy essential oils from {the kind you would put in bath salts}. I'm just looking for typical, run-of-the-mill ones. Lavender, and so on.

I'm not, however, looking for an online store. I was wondering if any of you knew maybe a branch of a store that might have it, or if I could find them in a certain department in a place like Wal-mart. All's Wal-mart had were the potpourri ones...and I figured that those wouldn't do.

If anyone has any input, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'd also love to hear what specfic oils you have used in combonation or by themselves in salts or soaps, or what have you. Thanks very much!!
