Since it looks like tamedvixen has received, I'm going to post a picture of the pincushion I made for her.
I had a lot of fun making it, but the little beads were time consuming! Also, there are 2 magnets in the bottom for picking up stray pins and needles. It was supposed to sort of look like a "faerie ring" with faeries dancing in a flowery circle, since tamedvixen mentioned that she liked faeries and things that were sort of Celtic.
Batgirl PM'd me to let me know that she had received, so here are some pictures of what I sent her. (Batgirl, if you have better pics, please post them! My macro setting has been acting up lately, so they're a bit blurry.)
After some delays by the postal system, I recieved this pretty zip-up pouch from Jaami today. It was definitely worth the wait. For now, it's the temporary home of an amigurumi I'm working on. I love it!
I crocheted this for a swap, based on the Anthropologie Hidden Vines Scarf from their catalog last summer. The recipient likes cherry blossoms, so I made the flowers pink instead. This is made from various bits of cotton I had lying around, so it would be light enough to wear on a chilly morning this season. I didn't end up making very many leaves, because the green is a thin thread and I didn't have the patience to make large leaves. When I tried to, they looked kind of awkward because they were made of too many stitches.
I got my lovely package from catpants today (and I ended up recycling the box as it was a good size for batgirl's things!). She sent me 3 pretty pins, and I love them all. I wear pins nearly every day, so these beauties were very much appreciated!
The blue beaded one is my favourite, and the picture doesn't capture how lovely it is. I have a necklace with a pendant almost like it that I purchased years ago, and idly wondered how it would look as a brooch. I didn't want to lose it as a necklace, though, so I never modified it. Now I don't have to!
Here is the amazing soctopod from teddybearbones. He is grasping a lung in his tentacles. Naughty violent soctopod! What did we tell you about eating innocent scuba divers? Much like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, he has been sent from the east to the West Coast, to clean up his act. "A coupla guys, they were up to no good, started makin' trouble in my neighbourhood. I ripped out one little lung, and my mom got scared..."
TBB, I hope you don't mind, but I added a loop so that I'll be able to hang him up at work
This hat is a gift for my partner. He asked for a hat for his birthday. When I asked him what he wanted it to be like, he specified brown, with earflaps, stripes, and a moose. If I were to make a moose again, I'd chart it out to have a bigger snout because I think it looks too thin to be moose-y. I guess random antlered animal will have to do.
Pictures of the hat on me, because I haven't had a chance to take pictures of him wearing it:
The flaps look a little long, but it works out because his head and face are bigger than mine.
Made with Patons Shetland Chunky in Deep Taupe and Earthy Brown with a 6 mm hook.
