I just started on the Sweet Pea Shawl this morning. I have up to Row2 complete. Not a difficult pattern, really, but one you do have to pay attention! So far so good, even though it had me scratching my head for a bit as I was starting on Row1 & trying to following the directions properly.

Anyway, by the end of Row1, I only had 16 shells instead of 20? I guess it's possible my fdn was short; I didn't go back and count. I'm using TLC Cotton and size I hook. My assumption is that my fdn count is off because that should have little to do with gauge (??), but I'm wondering if anyone else has done this?

I always feel so alone on these forums ... out in the middle of south dakota ... but, if I'm not alone, please say HELLO ... really loudly b/c I might just hear you!

I'm in central SD in Chamberlain. Would love to hear from fellow SD'ers ... and border states, too (NE, MN, NE, ND, IA, MT, CO). Smiley

I get to that area a few times a year ... my SIL and MIL live in Joliet & Morris, respectively. SIL is a knitter & scrapbooker & gardener while MIL is a die-hard quilter & newbie gardener.

Anyway, I make jewelry & crochet and admire general craftiness ... so, any recommended crafty type shops in that area (yarn & beads preferably, MIL has the quilt shops covered!). An hour's drive in either direction of the Joliet/Morris area is fine ... we're up for adventures! Also interested in hearing of any craft groups or generally crafty chicas who live in the area, too. Smiley
