11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Petite-able? on: January 21, 2008 07:44:13 PM
I have been looking on ebay at patterns. I have seen several that say "Petite-able". The description will say misses petite-able. What does this mean? Is it a petite pattern? Does it give instructions to make the item petite as well as average size? Just wondering. Thanks.
12  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / book recommendation? on: January 18, 2008 09:16:18 PM
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. I am looking for a book for my daughter. She is nearly 10 and has expressed an interest in sewing. I am not very good at it so I thought a book would be the best idea. Are there any good books for kids with easy, quick projects for machine sewing?
13  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Silver paint on: October 05, 2007 05:52:52 PM
Hi. My daughter has a few store bought shirts that have silver designs. I never realized how cool silver prints look stenciled/silk screened especially on black or red fabric.  Who makes a good quality silver paint to use? Thank you.
14  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / cleaning brushes on: September 08, 2007 10:35:51 PM
What does everyone use to clean their brushes? I tried soap and water, but that doesn't get them very clean. When I used acrylic paint mixed with textile medium, the brushes were easier to clean. When I used fabric paint, brushes were harder to clean. What should I use? Thanks.
15  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Glow in the Dark paint? on: September 02, 2007 05:25:46 PM
Hi. I want to try my first stencilling job. I went to Michaels and bought all the supplies I needed. My daughter wants a skull shirt, and she picked out some glow in the dark paint. It is the little bottle of acrylic paint so I have to add the textile medium. The 'medium' bottle says 2 parts medium, 1 part paint. Will the paint still glow? Should I use a different ratio of medium to paint? Thanks for any advice.
16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / painting stainless steel on: July 23, 2007 09:54:52 PM
Hi. My daughter has a stainless steel thermos that she has used for a couple of years. It was originally painted with flowers and butterflies. Half of the decoration has chipped off but it has no dents. I want to remove the rest of the paint and repaint it with something that is more her current style. What is the best way to remove the old paint? What type of paint should I use? I need something that will stick to the stainless and that can be washed repeatedly.  Also has to be non toxic. Is there such a paint? THanks.
17  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Looking for top down cardigan on: April 08, 2007 11:41:15 AM
Hi. I am looking for a top down cardigan. I would prefer child sized. It doesn't actually matter on the size. I just want to learn how to make one from the top down. Free would me good. Thanks. Happy Easter!  Cheesy
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / looking for yarn sub on: January 22, 2007 08:14:31 PM
Hi. I kind of want to make the No Sweat Pants from a past Interweave issue. The pattern calls for Lionbrand Homespun. I really would rather use a different yarn but can't think of anything that wouldn't be too heavy. Is there any such yarn that is possibly a cotton blend with the same gauge that wouldn't be too heavy?

Hi. I have several topics bookmarked. Earlier they were in order by date of last posting. I just checked them again and now they are in some random order. How do I put them back in order by date? Thanks.
20  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / magnetic snap question on: July 14, 2006 08:53:41 PM
Hi. I  am making a purse and want to use a magnetic snap as the closure. Do they make magnetic snaps that can be sewn in? I really can't use the ones with the prongs. Thanks.
