I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. I am looking for a book for my daughter. She is nearly 10 and has expressed an interest in sewing. I am not very good at it so I thought a book would be the best idea. Are there any good books for kids with easy, quick projects for machine sewing?

Hi. My daughter has a few store bought shirts that have silver designs. I never realized how cool silver prints look stenciled/silk screened especially on black or red fabric.  Who makes a good quality silver paint to use? Thank you.

What does everyone use to clean their brushes? I tried soap and water, but that doesn't get them very clean. When I used acrylic paint mixed with textile medium, the brushes were easier to clean. When I used fabric paint, brushes were harder to clean. What should I use? Thanks.

Hi. I want to try my first stencilling job. I went to Michaels and bought all the supplies I needed. My daughter wants a skull shirt, and she picked out some glow in the dark paint. It is the little bottle of acrylic paint so I have to add the textile medium. The 'medium' bottle says 2 parts medium, 1 part paint. Will the paint still glow? Should I use a different ratio of medium to paint? Thanks for any advice.

Hi. My daughter has a stainless steel thermos that she has used for a couple of years. It was originally painted with flowers and butterflies. Half of the decoration has chipped off but it has no dents. I want to remove the rest of the paint and repaint it with something that is more her current style. What is the best way to remove the old paint? What type of paint should I use? I need something that will stick to the stainless and that can be washed repeatedly.  Also has to be non toxic. Is there such a paint? THanks.

Hi. I kind of want to make the No Sweat Pants from a past Interweave issue. The pattern calls for Lionbrand Homespun. I really would rather use a different yarn but can't think of anything that wouldn't be too heavy. Is there any such yarn that is possibly a cotton blend with the same gauge that wouldn't be too heavy?

Hi. I  am making a purse and want to use a magnetic snap as the closure. Do they make magnetic snaps that can be sewn in? I really can't use the ones with the prongs. Thanks.

Hi. I am crocheting a water bottle bag. I started from the bottom with a ring that I learned here http://www.crochetme.com/Dec_Jan_0405/reads_round.html
I increased till I had 40 sts. Then I sc a couple of rounds and started a mesh stitch that I found in Happy Hooker. Anyhow because the stitch calls for chain 5, I have way more stitches than I started out with. I want to finish the Water bottle carrier with sc like I started it. I don't know how to go from mesh stitch back to sc.  Any help would be great. Thanks.
