1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / What do I sell Scarves for? on: December 05, 2006 07:50:30 AM
I want to sell some scarves, just to my friends and acquaintances, but I don't know how much to charge.

They are just basic scarves, nothing too fancy technique wise, but I will be taking custom orders.

Any suggestions?
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Tie Dye AND Circle Skirt on: June 02, 2006 06:14:19 AM
We all know RIT isn't exactly the best. I want more vivid, color-color fast color and above all, more attractive colors.  Something bright.  What brand should I use and where can I get it?

Also, I want to make a circle skirt...probably tie dyed, obviously.  I have found many useful tutorials, but I am too lazy to make a zipper.  Does anyone have any advice on how to make an elastic waist one?

THANKS!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Garden Room on: April 29, 2006 05:30:34 AM
I'm going to make my apartment a garden theme:

but no painting!
and really cheap!

I'm going to get little silver buckets and make planters/flower arrangements in them
I've got lots of flower photographs that I'm going to make into various collages.
I'm going to use bright pastels.
I'm going to hang a painted lattice on the wall and cover it with fake flowers.

Any other ideas?
Especially for larger more functional items?
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / COMPLETED IDEAS--NO inquiries on: December 12, 2005 01:54:07 PM
I thought I'd start a thread that would have ideas in it and would remain free of "please help"s.  This way all of us with the questions can get inspired by others ideas.  Try to keep the text short and sweet for quick scanning.

*  etched glass photo frames
*  etched glass mugs with hot cocoa
*  hand sewn PJs
*  screen printed Ts with inside jokes
*  homemade candles/ soaps
*  clocks (way easy, way useful)

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Red Rope Licorice Dispenser HELP NEEDED! on: October 26, 2005 07:44:21 PM
Okay, I really want to make a red rope licorice dispenser like in Wayne's World?  I am not sure how to do this. If anyone has any ideas, or knows hwere I could purchase one, I would really like to know. I especially need ideas for how to make the licorice dispense w/o sticking..some sort of reel.  And a jointed blade for cutting it off.  I figure the whole shebam would be in a clear bowl.  But there are details I'm concerned about. PLEASE HELP
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafty Boyfriend on: September 16, 2005 10:00:35 AM
I was thrilled to death when my boyfriend mentioned that since we are both artistic, we should do some sort of project together.  He said "like 'Paintin' Plates' but not as lame."  So...what sort of non-girly, kindof manly, less craft, more art projects should I suggest. College budget people!

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Sun Catchers on: September 01, 2005 09:08:02 PM
Does anyone know how to make suncatchers in a v. easy, v. cheap way? I remember i Used to buy kits where you just sprinkled little plastic bead into a frame...can you buy those anymore?
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / DORM--IDEAS NEEDED on: September 01, 2005 08:35:10 PM
This is a picture of my dorm room:

http://www.housing.osu.edu/halls.asp?section=other&id=28&type=13&room=4468&x=44&y=10

(go to the bottom and click on the floor plan)

I can't paint. The walls are concrete block, so no nails.  They are HUGE and expansive, so I really need some decor. The furniture they give us is blue, red and green...kindof a "jungle green" if you remember the crayon.

I have made this painting so far:

BUT I want more ideas, more help.  I am on a very limited budget, because I really could stand to spend money on things other than crafting for once. So, does anyone have any ideas for next to nothing budget?

Things I have:
*directors chair
*couple of yards, various fabrics
*paint
*lots of paint swatches
