1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / pickles! on: May 23, 2010 08:25:40 AM
OOOHHHH!!  I love canning!
I haven't tried pickles yet, but my dad & I tackled strawberries & rhubarb last year- we made some DELICIOUS jam!

p.s. Penzey's (a spice company) sells a pickling spice that sounds amazing.  I have not tried it, but it has some serious good stuff in it- like yellow & brown mustard seed, allspice, cinnamon, bay leaves, dill seed, cloves, ginger, black peppercorns, star anise, coriander, juniper, mace, cardamom, and crushed red pepper. has anyone tried this?

p.s. how do they taste?   Grin

It breaks my heart you broke that vintage tile instead of ripping it out though. People who are in the process of restoring old homes search high and low for that sort of thing. Sad

Me too!  I cried a bit on the inside when I saw that great green tile smashed and gone..    Undecided

Overall, you did a great job though, and I love the chandelier! It reminds me of a more afforable version of the murano glass ones you can buy in Venice   Smiley
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Photo dump (pics galore!) on: December 09, 2008 06:33:46 PM
Thank you so much for posting all of that information- I looked into the website and found out I can buy the efka film for my brownie bullet, and maybe fit 120 into my 620 Duaflex II.  I'm so excited, especially since I though they were just going to be nice decorating pieces around my room   Smiley

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Yoga mat bag! on: August 31, 2008 01:33:21 PM
Hi all, this is my first time posting a finished knitting project here, even though I've completed many more before now.

My mom does yoga, but doesn't have a bag to carry her mat in.  I found a pattern for one in Knit.1 (Spring 2007).  The chevron pattern was super easy to memorize, and it knitted it up faster than I expected.  Pictures and stats below.
Needles: size 3 cascade bamboo straight needles
Yarn: Cascade Heritage- light blue (colorway no. 5602)
Mountain Colors Bearfoot- navy blue (don't know colorway)
Zitron Trekking Pro Natura- creme/off white (colorway no. 1501)
Noro Kureyon- sock weight (colorway no. s95)
The bag: 14" in diameter, 26" in length
