I have a bunch of knit "gauchos" that I don't wear anymore. I'm over the trend, but want to do something crafty with them. Any ideas on how to transform them into a cute skirt? Or any other ideas? I was thinking of taking the seams out and re-sewing them ... but I don't think the skirt would look that great with the seams going down the center and on the sides...

Shura (DogGrrl), I am so glad that you like everything I was so worried, this being my first swap and all. Thank goodness the cig holder fits your smokes... I didn't have a pack of 100's to work from, nor a pattern... needless to say it took a few attempts, but when I saw the fabric it just seemed to perfectly fit what you said you liked.

I received from IamtheShelbster... no worries about being a little late on the send-out... I just hope your ankle is feeling better! Since my camera is old and a POS, I have yet to post pics, though I will as soon as I have the patience to mess with it. I got a piece of artwork in a funky frame, a decopaged asktray and tin. I love vampires (ever since I was a kid). Lucky for me, my boyfriend understands (he is a big fan himself). I can't believe that other people know about L.J. Smith, I started reading those books forever ago, and like everyone else, am waiting for the next book, which most likely isn't coming. A current favorite is anything Laurell K. Hamilton (I can't wait for June 27th !) I will have to check out the other books everyone has mentioned (you can never have to many vampire books).

I'm going to brainstorm on possible crafts, though I guess it would greatly depend on your partner...

I'm looking to make some fun, beaded, stitch markers (with hanging beads), and was wondering if anyone had experience with this craft? Do you usually just use jump rings (for the part that goes around the needle)? If so, what size? Has anyone had luck with using lever-back earrings? I have found a few posts regarding this topic, but I was wondering if anyone could share some pros and cons of different techniques. I was thinking of just using beading wire, but I was worried it would catch on the yarn...

If anyone has any tips or advice that they would like to share, I would be eternally grateful....

How do you use bottlecaps to distress denim?

Same type of idea as the sandpaper. You take a bottle cap (more like one from beer, with "crimped" edges, than one from a soda-type bottle) and run the rough edges along the fabric. It is more to create frays and catches in the fabric. I guess that technique would be better for jeans (the whole torn/worn/hole-y trend).
