1  Yay! I have warm hands!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by night_owl on: November 12, 2006 09:14:32 PM
So I ALWAYS have freezing hands (bad circulation); I had some yarn left over from a cardigan and well....now I have a pair of fetching Cheesy

But did I stop there??  Oh no, you see I wore these nonstop for about a week and loved them so much I decided I must have another pair.  But was I content to make them exactly the same??  No Smiley

As you can see, I continued the cable pattern all the way up.  These hug my hands a lot more then my first pair...kinda nice Cheesy

I also made these lovely mittens awhile ago but have yet to post them soo....

These were my first mittens and first stranded colorwork project...I'm so proud Grin  I hope you like!  I know I do Smiley

2  Re: Sesame anyone? in Knitalongs by night_owl on: October 20, 2006 07:27:00 PM
I just re-read my post... a bit brief, eh?  I forgot to tell you what a *great job* you did.  I love the colour combination.  And your collar looks great.  I really want a cardigan to make with some dark grey wool blend I have in my stash.  Something like Sesame, but with a reliable pattern.  How did you find the pattern to work with?
Sorry I still haven't taken another picture, I promise I will tonight.

Thank you!  I ordered the yarn from KnitPicks (wool of the andes) and when it arrived I was a bit surprised at how bold the blue was but it's grown on me; I love it now!!  This was my first sweater/cardigan/large project.  I thought the pattern was easy to follow however I found the blocking measurements to be off.  I ended up just measuring myself and using those measurements.  When I started the sleeves I thought I wouldn't end up cuffing/turning them back because I LOVE extra long sleeves.  But these were too long even for me; I ended up undoing my CO edge and reknitting them (I could have just turned them back but I had changed colors on the wrong side, it would've shown and it bugged me).  I also had to modify the button band because I used smaller buttons then suggested.

All in all, I love this cardigan and I would recommend the pattern.  Just be sure to pay attention and count your rows Smiley

*Edit* as promised, here's another pic; kinda out of focus, I'll see if I can get a better one when the sun comes back out. Smiley  I measured from the shoulder seam to the bottom edge and mine's 22 inches.  Hope this helps!

I finished my sesame a couple of weeks ago (had to wait to post cause I wasn't able to upload pics from my camera till now).  I wasn't really a part of this knit-along but thought you all might like to see another finished one Cheesy

I hope you guys like it and finish yours, I want to see more finished ones!!

4  my first hoodie!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by night_owl on: October 19, 2006 08:07:11 PM
I made this hoodie out of a too big Tshirt, I didn't think to take a before picture...sorry.  I used Mezzi's tutorial (found here).  Because of the coloring and the '50' on the back, I like to call it my Quidditch jacket though it honestly wasn't planned that way  Smiley

Lots more pictures on my blog including one of the back so you can see the '50' (scroll down a bit to get to the hoodie pictures)

So when I checked the mail today I found 2 more swap packages!!  Today I received from sarah- and craftgirl_sampson!!

But before I forget, here's a pic of the button necklace I received from blueblythe:

So from sarah- I received 2 items; 4 mini cards and a mini scrapbook (no picture right now, Mum's been wanting one since forever so I gave it to her and she put it somewhere and I can't find it; I'll ask her about it and post a pic tomorrow)

And from craftgirl_sampson I received a hemp necklace (my camera really screwed up the color in this one, tomorrow when it's light...if I remember...I'll get a better picture of it.  The green is less neon, the blue is darker, and my skin is a lot whiter then that Tongue)

Ok, so in the last couple of days I've received:

beaded wire animals from atsuko (you have such patience!) -

woodland fairy tile coaster from cinderly (the detail on this is amazing!  I bow to your paper cutting abilities Cheesy) -

flower wristlets from Fortune_32 (My sister adores this) -

hand dipped incense from madchandler (Lemon Pucker, Cinnamon Red Hearts, Seduction, and Banana Nut Bread.  I haven't had a chance to burn one yet, I can't find my incense burner Angry,  but they smell soo good!) -

bat from Mikaiyawa (which is really dark purple, my camera really washed it out) -

I've also received my button necklace from blueblythe but have been unsuccessful at getting a good picture of it.  I'm going to try again, and then wait till the mail comes for today to post (then if more packages come I can post pics of those at the same time Cheesy)

As of this moment I've received 11 of my 15 items!  I've loved getting fun mail everyday; I'll be sad when this swap's over....

Wow I just realized what an insane amount of pictures I put up Shocked  I think Ill move them all to my blog later today to help save Craftsters bandwidth and make it easier for those on dial up.  Done!  To see the rest of the pictures head over to my blog (click me Cheesy).

But I thought I'd at least leave the group picture here (mostly so you'd know what you'd be getting into; I have close ups of everything and am planning to add more pictures from the CD in the next few days):

Group Pic -

Thank you so much for swapping with me Haylie!!  Oxalis had a marvelous time and thanks you too (he also says hello to froggy Wink)  Thank you also to Princess Dukki for organizing!

10  Re: Menstrual Care Package Swap #2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by night_owl on: June 24, 2006 10:25:52 PM
As MindWhore hasn't had time to post pics and since I finally have time to type all this out;  I've decided to post pictures of what I sent MindWhore (sent, not received.  To see all the lovely goodies I received from MindWhore go here)

In my teaser post I showed you a bit of this rice bag.  The "pouch" itself is some off white muslin and the "pillow case" is flannel; I filled it w/brown rice:

In the same teaser post I also showed you the backs of two cloth pads.  I sent MindWhore 10 pads and 14 inserts.  They're all cotten (w/the exception of the five pads backed w/fleece) and the inserts are fillled with old towels/washcloths (yay for recycling!):

In the swapping info questionnaire MindWhore said she'd love a sleep mask.  The one I made is cotten filled w/denim (gives it a bit of weight and makes it really dark).  I used a different print for each side:

Mindwhore also said that THAT week she craves salty and spicy things so I sent her some Cheetos, Chili Cheese Fritos, and Jalapeno Pringles:

I also included two of my favorite herbal teas.  I don't have a picture; but here are some links: I sent Green Rooibos and Honeybush from Numi
