2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Taco Bella on: March 27, 2017 12:28:02 PM
Welp I've abandoned one of my larger projects to start another  large project, but then got sidetracked with another little wee weekender I'm calling Taco Bella.  I made a pizza themed piece for my daughter at Christmas, I'll give this one to my son for his birthday while adding the pattern to my catalogue.

I'm enjoying playing with simple embroidery...a new skill I'd like to further cultivate and incorporate into my cross-stitching.  I'm also a fan of pretty much anything art nouveau inspired, so, like my pizza piece, I added my own little art nouveau spin on this.  Hope you like it!

Wow, I didn't carrot all about this issue until it was brought to my attention.  devil weeds.  If only they tasted like chocolate or wine, then perhaps i'd be more supportive.

ps...the stitching is super cute Cheesy

nice work!!  Haven't stitched on anything like a bag or sweater yet...how do you keep the back portion of the bag (or the other side of the bag??) from getting in the way of your stitching?  do you tie it, or clip it in some way?

Great Job! IS it hard working on the black Aida Cloth?

I find it a bit of a challenge when I need to use a very dark shade on black aida...for example, there is some very dark grey and a navy blue that are practically invisible to the naked eye, no matter how good the light is.  but for some reason, one cannot just leave those spots 'blank' either, or it feels incomplete.  All the same, when working with the black, a good lamp over or next to you is critical...a few friends even use head lamps!  I tend to eyeball it and use the romantic glow of netflix to illuminate the scoring for me  Grin

thanks!  here's a closer look at the shading Smiley

Last one for a bit...a few larger projects are now on my lap so they will take awhile.

This little weekender entitled 'Dark Knight Indeed' actually took me a little more time than anticipated...24 DMC floss colours were used to convey depth in this otherwise brooding silhouette.  Happy with the final product though!
