21  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: my wool is weirdly woolly and not what i want! on: May 17, 2007 11:10:22 PM
I've dyed using Kool-aid before. You don't need the vinegar at all! I didn't use it, and my yarn ended up lovely.

23  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Plying with cotton thread on: May 10, 2007 09:44:13 PM
So I know how to set the twist in animal fibers, and have no problem with that. But! I want to ply some wool with cotton crochet thread. Do I need to do anything different to set the twist?

Same for other threads, I suppose. Like the invisible nylon threads and the such. Do I need to use hotter water?
24  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / First Plieds on: May 10, 2007 07:44:11 PM
This is my first attempt at plied yarn, made from Corriedale wool.

This is my second attempt, still on the spindle. I have to set the twist, and its made from merino wool.

Length is around 30 yards, so not really that much..... Undecided

i haven't decided on names yet.

I think i'm going to wait to post my list until a crafter is found for bombgirl or I get a lightbulb moment for what I could make. Going to think hard on this one.
