1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 1 Fat Quarter + 1 2yr Planner = Super Spiffy Planner or Checkbook Cover on: December 29, 2006 05:44:03 PM
Hey Everyone, because my funds were limited this year, I had to get super crafty with my co-worker gifts (I had 10, even if I spent $10 each, that's a hundred... and to buy a gift under 3 bucks usually ends up a cheesy gift). Well I came across these cheesy lookin 2 year planners one day at a party n dollar store, looked at them, but thought that was still somewhat cheesy. But the idea didn't leave my head, a few days later the lightbulb went off and I desided to embelish it! The girls LOVED them, a few of them actually have asked me if they could "place orders" for them for their friend's b-day gifts (I've had "orders" placed a few times for a few of my crafty creations) But I wanted to share this with all my fellow crafty creators here and if you want a tutorial, I'll be HAPPY to fill the request  Grin!

You could totally run with the idea and do more with the fabrics, and embelishments, buttons, ribbons, applique... if you all do.... PLEASE POST PICS I WANNA SEE HOW GREAT THEY LOOK!!! It only takes like 20 mins at the most to make!!! Tell me what you think!!

The one I made for me was the "trial and error" one, when I embroidered it it came out ITTY BITTY tooo small, and I ran out of the fabric so I made this one for me

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Personalized Etched Glass Mugs on: May 26, 2006 11:15:17 PM
I made these for the girls at work for christmas. I filled the cups with a baggie of hot coco mix and some marshamellows. Everyone loved them... This one I made cause one of the girls wanted me to make one for her to buy and give to her sister for her birthday. I think it came out swell. I used the tutorial from here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=17742.0 very very easy! On the font I put their name & back of the mugs I put hearts simular to the circles idea on the tutorial.

Bought the mugs from walmart for like $.97 so it was a really froogle way of giving x-mas gifts   Cool
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Need an inexpensive EASY Lip Balm recipe for dummies :) on: December 15, 2005 01:39:57 AM
I know there are tons of recipes out there for lip balm. All of them look rather easy. It's getting the items in the recipe that are complicated. I am completely stupid when it comes to these oils and essences. Any explaining of these things would be GREAT! For my co-workers I'm going to glass etch some mugs, put together a tin with hot coco mix and marshmellows, some warm fluffy socks and think putting some homemade lip balm would be rather nifty too! We work retail and thought this was a good relax and enjoy gift that they wouldn't get another of... since everyone does bath stuff.

What I am exactly looking for is something that isn't going to grow yucky fuzzies in it (bacteria). From what I read sugars will do that, or certain things will do that. I'd really like to make it completey homemade if possible, but have no idea where to buy these things at! So if you guys could tell me where to go to get these things, in a store (Wal-Mart or places like that I'm farmilar with so those are idea) that would be super fabulous! Otherwise even a place I can get the oils? Cause melting plain chapstick and putting some oils in it would be fine if not able to do the other. Thanks everyone!!
