1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quitting smoking and keeping my hands busy!!! on: September 03, 2005 08:10:17 AM
I quit on the 18th of August and have been crafting my guts out to keep my hands busy, too! It's nice to do something productive with that extra time! The first few days the only thing that I had the attention span and patience for was cutting out quilt squares so now I am sitting on a bunch of quilt squares even though I have never made a quilt... I guess it's about time I try one!

I'm not a genious seamstress but I think I can think of some way to maybe help you out.

I'm thinking maybe you could cut a hole in the top of his head, turn him inside out, and attach the top of his head through the hole inside out... and then turn the whole thing inside out and pop out the top the right way...

Does that make sense? I dunno. I think it could work. I could maybe conjure up a image on my computer if you don't.

Hey thanks! That is an excellent idea... think I'm going to try that soon. I think I get it, you don't have to waste yer time messing around with images, but that was sooooo super sweet of you to offer!

Thanks for everyone's sweet comments and support! I have been working on "the big one" and ran into a few snags with the dumb top once again. He is all done except for that. And he is HUGE! If anyone has any advice on how to do the top, I would love your help. This poor guy has been unfinished for way too long!

And about the tutorial, I would be glad to do one. Gimme a few days to put it together =)

omg! Are all of those things out of scupley (minus the pots) kung fu? How did you get mario and the sprite all shiny?

Yep, all sculpy- and I used Sculpy glaze. You can buy it for about $1.50! It really does make a differance...

OMG!  Shocked They are sooooo cute!!! Do you have any other mario stuff? My son is obsessed with mario and i'd like to make him a few doo-dads. I've already made him a paper mache bowser and a couple of sculpey mushrooms...any ideas?

Thanks! I do have a few other mario things that I've made (including sculpy mushrooms!). I would LOVE to see the paper mache bowser- I bet that is awesome!

_oh! & I found this amazing fan art of Paper Mari & much more info on the game.

/slowly steps away from the thread
wow! super cool...And I actually have Paper Mario- but for the gamecube and not the 64. I do think the characters are awesome in it, but I'm not so impressed with the rpg style. I get bored with those too easily. I don't remember seeing bombette in the version I have, but I haven't finished the game yet either..

AND I started on the big one last night! I have a bunch of other stuff that I am supposed to be working on, but he was calling me... I got him all ready to stuff and was soooo excited that he was going to be done soon and RAN OUT OF STUFFING! how frustrating! I had 4 (20 oz) bags of fluff and thought that I had gone overboard and bought too much. I guess not because he is only about 1/2 full. It was way too late to run out and get more, too. I'm going to get more today(should just buy a truckload!) and *hopefully* finish him tonite!
