1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / One Tiny Monster Hoopla! on: May 04, 2013 04:11:58 PM
I'm wrapping up the One Tiny Monster Swap, and I'm ready to organize again already! Keeping in the OTM theme, I'd like to do a One Tiny Monster Hoopla Swap. The 3-d monsters were a hit, and a few people wanted to join, but weren't ready to make a 3-d creation. I feel like this could be their chance! What'cha think?   Grin

Hoop sizes could be no larger than 4", with a 3-week crafting period...I would start it in the next two weeks or so (after my first organized swap is officially complete and the last swapper has received her angel package Smiley )

Thanks!

RhymeswOrange angeling!

wendiek is in need of an angel! The swap required that each participant crafted one tiny monster (4” and under) for their partner. The monster must be three-dimensional. Once chosen as an angel, you will have 2 weeks time (beginning on the date I PM you to confirm you have been accepted) to craft and send your item. If you are wanting to angel to redeem feedback, keep in mind:
“In the case of someone angeling to redeem negative feedback, the swap they choose to send an angel package for MUST be similar to the swap they originally flaked on in terms of size and time commitment. For example, if someone did not complete a swap with multiple send outs, they must do an angel package for EACH send out they missed. If someone did not complete a swap where they should have sent one large and two small items, they must send at least that much to the person they are angeling for.”

You will need to be able to ship to the Netherlands.

Some excerpts from wendiek’s questionnaire:
Three words to describe your ideal monster: cute, fun, colorful
Likes: cookie monster, mike from Monster’s Inc., pink, green, blue
Dislikes: skulls, scary
Allergies: none

If you are interested in becoming an angel for this swap, please PM organizer bananasandhair!
Eligible applicants are taken on a first come, first served basis!

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / One Tiny Monster Swap? on: February 28, 2013 01:53:49 PM
Who doesn't love monsters?

I know that normally these are one tiny "theme" thing swaps, but I was thinking just making a tiny monster (stuffie, if you will), rather than a monster themed item, would be fun too, and not too time consuming for anyone.

The swap would be for one tiny monster. They can be scary, cute, angry, happy, sad, whatever mood seems appropriate for your monster. I was thinking two weeks craft time, which gives plenty of time for crafting a tiny monster, but not so long that you forget about it!

This would be my first time organizing and I am trying to see if anyone would be interested in participating

thanks Smiley
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Emerald Entrelac Scarf! on: December 11, 2012 09:20:22 AM
This is my first entrelac project and I am super proud of the way it turned out!  Grin

The edges really are straighter than the picture, but because the pattern is so puffy I couldn't get it to lay flat for me (and I really don't want to block it. lol) I used Red Heart Boutique Collection Yarn. It's a prime example of why you buy the same dye lot, but after I got going I didn't mind the changes, as I thought it brought more interest to the fun pattern.

I modified a blanket pattern to create this beauty, so I just sort of winged it.  Cheesy It was really droopy when you held it up, so I just did a single crochet edging to keep it from stretching.

I love how puffy it looks and it's really warm Smiley
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / What happens when there's Pinterest, and your bf is playing WoW [felt flowers] on: October 16, 2012 09:17:11 AM
I first saw them on Pinterest, and the concept seemed simple enough. I changed them up just a little, but I wanted to share because I thought they turned out pretty well! I'm not sure what to do with them, as I'm not into brooches (they have no backing on them as of yet). Mine aren't quite as smooth as the tutorial because I used cheap craft felt from Michael's that I had sitting around. They were just a project to keep myself entertained  Grin

EDIT!: Latest attempt! Changed it up quite a bit. Took a lot longer, but totally worth the effort!

And because I like Instagram  Grin

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Giant poofy slouchy hat on: October 14, 2012 08:34:58 AM
Hat I worked up pretty quickly that I wanted to share. Nothing too fancy. I did have to rip out about 3 inches of work though, because it got a little out of hand on the slouchy-ness  Shocked I used to have a lot more hair to hold it up, but ever since I cut off 11 inches, it's made me have to re-think my hats. lol

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Hello Kitty! on: September 21, 2012 01:59:06 PM
I've been stalking this fabric at Joann's for awhile now, and it finally went on sale and I was able to pick it up!

Front, which looks just like the back  Wink

The sides cinch up and make pretty bows

oooh, pocket! Sized perfectly for my phone Smiley

The fabric is just some basic cotton, nothing fancy, as you can see it's fairly thin. Overall it cost less than $10 because the black contrasting fabric was from the remnants bin!

For those interested, and for the sake of crediting my source Smiley
I got the pattern from : http://sweet-verbena.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-cinch-bag-tutorial.html
