21  Texas / Texas: North Central / DATE CHANGE!!! Dallas Area Crafty Get-Together! on: July 29, 2006 02:21:55 AM
Who: Dallas Area Craftsters
What: Get-Together for a Day of Crafting!
When: Sept. 9th, 2006 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Garland, TX
Why: To gain comraderie between local crafters!

How: Reply here or shoot me a PM and I will send you the e-vite for the event with more information (address, rsvp info, etc.).  I have two tables (kitchen and dining) that will seat 8 and then also have seating in my living room for 6 more.  I have plenty of room to move couches if more tables and chairs could be brough by other crafters.  I can get up to 8 more chairs for plenty of room to craft.

I figure everyone can also just bring their own lunch/drinks and I will provide the cooler, ice and oven/microwave/toaster if needed.  I will also make some goodies for us to snack on throughout the day.  This is definitely making me need to clean our house.  LOL!

**I had to change the date due the fact that I found out that was Labor Day Weekend and didn't know.  Sorry but I also hope this will help more people come.

Okay, so I am going to go and look at my calendar and then look for a good Saturday coming up.  It will have to be after I start back to work (on August 7th) and teaching (August 21st).  I will post as soon as I know.

25  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Pet Swap Round 2 Gallery on: July 28, 2006 05:16:29 PM
I got mine today and was so happy!  Aladdin is devouring the treats more than ever!  He loves them.  I will have to take pictures of the pirate pillow that was made as well.  He loved it and was sleeping on it earlier.  Sad thing is that I didn't open it right away because I just thought it was an eBay auction that I won and all.  LOL!  I will be sending mine out tomorrow (with prior knowledge to my swap partner) because I have people in my quilt class tomorrow that want to see it.

I will also update with pictures as soon as I can get Aladdin off the pillow.  I am putting the dog leash holder in our garage because we have so many leashes on our one holder we need to seperate them.  Sad when we only have one dog but about 10 leashes.  LOL!
26  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: School chair back pocket on: July 25, 2006 07:58:35 PM
I teach second grade and have had the fabric for two years to make mine for my classroom and have just never gotten around to it.  I am now in a crunch and have three weeks before school starts back and need to make 24 of them.  I don't think I will use bias tape though because I was planning on just sewing them and then flipping them inside out.  I guess I could be thinking crazy if that doesn't make sense.

You could also use fabric that is already pre-quilted.  It would give a nice padding.

I have a house and wouldn't mind offering it up for all to meet at.  We could do a Saturday all day thing or what not and then if it goes well we could keep it going with a set date.  What do y'all think?  If you have any suggestions just PM me and I will answer them.  My husband works on Saturdays and that is why I am offering that day and all.

Are we posting pictures?  I have links to mine if we are.

This is the container that it will all be in inside the box.  It's this really cute Asian lunch box with a dog on it.

All the items included!  A quilted blanket for Keesha (the Pekinese) with her name embroidered by hand.  Dog magnets, dog post-its and a dog photo frame.

I wear Spanx under almost everything that would possibly cause chaffing (especially on my wedding day).  I love them and my hubby gets them for 40% off at his work so can't beat them for $11!
